MASTODON's BRENT HINDS Vs. KING KHAN

Pitchfork reports that MASTODON's Brent Hinds allegedly got himself into another altercation Thursday night (September 18), this time with Arish "King" Khan, the Indian guitar guru who cut his teeth playing guitar in the sloppy Canadian punk band the SPACESHITS and who currently fronts his own band called KING KHAN & THE SHRINES. According to the site, the fight occurred after Khan's appearance in Atlanta at the Highland Inn Lounge's weekly Kirkwood Ballers Club open mic. Read all the details from Pitchfork. Hinds was reportedly jumped following MASTODON's performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. Police claim Hinds was attacked outside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on September 10, 2007 during an encounter with SYSTEM OF A DOWN bassist Shavo Odadjian and his friend William Hudson. According to police, Hudson assaulted Hinds, and Odadjian witnessed the incident.

After reading this story Brent needs to really get his drinking/drugs or whatever under control. He suckered punched this guy for just messing around with him. All the guy did was poor a beer over his head and when he went to appologize Brent sucker punched him in the face. The odd thing is that Khan was their to see a friend who was dying of cancer and the event was for them. Seems Brent showed up and made a total ass of himself and is lucky he didn't go to jail.
All he could say was 'It was a dick move, but I'm a dick sometimes.'
Get your shit together man I would hate to see you get arrested or get kicked out of the band.

Just reading the story it sounds like Brent just being a jerk again. But then you look at the link and see this King Khan guy...and seriously i'm surprised he doesn't get punched in the face a lot more often.

I just saw the report. Pitchfork Media are one of the most biased news-sites out there. They would rather hear things about pussy indie rock than metal.
The report is so biased, and honestly I could understand wanting to punch this guy

if you're playing a gig (for someone dying of cancer, no less) and some unknown guy jumps on stage and "fucks around" with your guitar, pouring a beer on that guy seems like a pretty fair reaction.
best guitar alive? hardly. i thought the last Mastodon was overrated and i never play it.
i missed Celtic Frost to see these overrated fuckers, Mastodon.
one of the worst decision i ever made.

Did anyone even read the article? noone outside of malmsteen would say "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? ..... IM THE GREATEST GUITARIST ALIVE" I don't think the site has any idea what they're talking about. A few months after Bret got his ass handed to him by that friend of that guy from SOAD, I watched a behind the scenes vid for Mastodon's new album. I noticed they interviewed Bret separate from the others, and that's always a bad sign.
When one member of the band starts alienating himself from the rest of the band, making pompous statements and getting into drunken altercations, he's on the fast track to getting fired. (Dave Mustaine and Metallica?) There are thousands of other guitar players out there who would jump at the chance to take his place and it looks like they'll have it if Bret keeps it up. Like them or not, Mastodon are one of the most professional bands out there. They know if they got a busted leg in the band, they'll have to cut him loose.

Take a loook in the mirror is totally the case for this dude. I have seen Mastodon live like 6 times and every time I meet this dude before a show he is beyond wasted. He appears to be wasted in most of their backstage footage too. I like the guy he was always cool to me everytime I met him but he needs to get his shit together especially if this new album steps them up even more than the last. There is a time to party and a time to be professional when it comes to this business. Save the partying for after the gig and don't get hammered before the show. I would hate to see him go and honestly don't know if Mastodon could survive without him as he is an important part of their sound. He just needs to tone it down a few notches. Don't want to see his ass get thrown in jail or beat down again.
