SCOTT WEILAND On Solo Album: 'If It Turns Off STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Fans, So Be It' - Sep. 23, 2008
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS/ex-VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland recently spoke to Rolling Stone magazine about his sophomore solo album, "Happy In Galoshes", which is scheduled for release on November 25, 2008 via the artist's label Softdrive Records and distributed by New West Records/ RED/Sony. "There's no rules to the stuff I do on my own," Weiland sad. "I don't have to worry about radio playing it."

"Happy In Galoshes", produced by Scott Weiland and Doug Grean (VELVET REVOLVER, SHERYL CROW, CRYSTAL METHOD), with select tracks recorded by Steve Albini, features a collection of songs that bring a revitalizing sound to Weiland's highly praised and unique musical style. The album also features several guest appearances including Adrian Young, Tony Kanal and Tom Dumont of NO DOUBT, who, along with Grean and Weiland, penned "Paralysis", which features Young on drums. "She's so Cold" was co-written by Gary Beers from INXS. The album also includes other standout tracks such as the dynamic "Missing Cleveland" and the catchy hooks of "Talk About Love". "If it turns off the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS fans, so be it," Weiland said. "There's art and there's commerce and at the age I'm at, I've accomplished the commerce part."

Scott cannot sing, he has an awfull voice, the VR performance at live 8 was embarrasing. Also, aside from him being a rubbish musician - who also writes awfull lyrics - i have met him and he was a miserable prick, didn't even say hello to a single person that was trying to speak to him, couldn't have less respect for him if i tried

T-Boner, you're on a roll, but apparently you've had a little too much of the same stuff Weiland has. As much as I like the guy in STP and VR, he just can't get his shit straight.

.....you idolize SW because he has "money in the bank" therefore he doesn't have to sell out to corp wh*res? How does that make any sense? So what you are saying is, he once sold out, but that's ok, because he made his money and now doesn't have to? You are right when you say that AC/DC's albums all sound identical, but come on man, you are using that argument to DEFEND Stone Temple Pilots? I love STP as much as the next guy, but dude, their music is far from groundbreaking from album to album. It's essentially the same stuff. I'll give you that 12 Bar Blues is totally different. But since when is Metallica a cookie-cutter band? Did you listen to St Anger? If they were corporate rock, they just would have released The Black Album II, III and IV.

You proved how idiotic your ramblings are by the following statement:

"SCOTT COULD MAKE AN ALBUM-
WITH HIM MAKING FART SOUNDS USING HIS HAND AND UNDERARM... AND EVEN THAT MUTHER FUKKER WOULD BE GOLDEN."

This just goes to show you are simply in love with Weiland, and like his music only to watch him shake his skinny little addict body.

Weiland fanboy.

....will not be the same without Weiland. They might even be better! I loved the first two albums, travelled far and wide to see them on the Contraband tour and then saw them in my hometown for Libertad, but with Duff, Slash and Dave in that band, I seriously think they will be awesome no matter who they pick. As long as it ain't that Spacehog dude.

i don't think the fact that scott is/was on drugs is a good excuse for poor performances and a bad attitude to his fans. Kids pay good money for these shows and them getting that in return is poor form

SW needs to get his act together, when he's right, he's one of the last very good front men, songwriters/singers. All the STP albums are great, the last one might be my favorite despite it not getting air play. He's a great performer, but wasted, he's lame. Stories on the radio that the Deleo's wanted to kill him a few times on this tour, he was late on stage, getting loaded. He burnt the VR bridge, had STP to fall back on & these guys will put up with alot cuz their options are less. THey want STP to work.

His first solo albums was brilliant...I know a lot of people on here rip it because they were expecting STP2..Open up your ears a little and branch out....If you're into 70's Bowie and dirty rock, you'll love it. Hope the new record is half as good. Weiland is the greatest frontman in rock over the past 25 years

I saw STP about a month ago...They were incredible!

Weiland sounded awesome and had a great stage presence.

STP's drummer needs to step it up a bit live, though...On the upbeat songs (like crackerman) he starts strong and then gradually starts slowing the tempo wayyyy down.

I LOVE SCOTT, BUT HE SANG ONSTAGE WITH ALICE AT THE UNPLUGGED SHOW IN NOVEMBER HERE IN AUSTIN, TEXAS....MAN HE STANK IT UP! HIS TIMING WAS OFF AND DIDN'T KNOW THE WORDS TO ANGRY CHAIR! MAYBE HE WAS MESSED UP THAT NIGHT. TO HIS CREDIT, I THINK HE'S ONE OF THE BADDEST ASS FRONTMEN AROUND. THE GUY HAS AN AMAZING KNACK FOR MELODY AND WRITES SOME GOOD LYRICS(NOT ALWAYS) BUT MOST OF THE TIME. HE JUST HAS A CREATIVE MIND FOR MUSIC. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO HIS SOLO ALBUM AND I HOPE WHETHER HE'S ON DRUGS OR NOT THAT HE GETS WELL. HE'S A HELL OF A TALENT...
