ACE FREHLEY Charging Fee For Autographs At CHILLER THEATRE; No Guitars, Pick Guards Allowed

Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley will not be signing any guitars or pick guards and will be charging a fee for autographs during his appearance at the Chiller Theatre toy, model and film expo on October 25 at the Hilton Hotel in Parsippany, New Jersey. According to a posting on the Chiller Theatre web site, "guests set their own prices for autographs." The following musicians are slated to appear, among others: Ace Frehley (KISS) David Ellefson (MEGADETH, F5) Eerie Von (DANZIG, SAMHAIN) Kip Winger (WINGER) Lita FordRon "Bumblefoot" Thal (GUNS N' ROSES) Wednesday 13 (MURDERDOLLS) For more information, go to this location. errm ... yer.. that's how chiller normally works... think you will find Chiller are paying Ace an appearance fee and they then charge for autographs to re-coup..

I hate Kiss, but always held Ace in higher regards than the rest of those assholes.

Everyone charges money at Chiller. In fact, conventions like this prefer to have all guests charge the same amount for autographs so no one guest perceived differently than the others. Chiller doesn't make that a rule, but others do.
Besides, if I were a guest at one of these cons, I would charge money too. Who wants to sit at a table all weekend and talk to all these horror and music dweebs non-stop for free? I wouldn't. And I'm one of those dweebs.

Everybody who has been slating Kiss especially Tommy Thayer during the summer and hailing Ace like some supreme being are looking pretty stupid now, face facts Ace is just as money grabbing and greedy as Symmons/Stanley it's just they are more honest about it.

He'll sign your records, that's not a problem - He's NOT signing pickguards or guitars, because scumbags do that PURELY for resale on eBay etc. - They'll get an autograph from someone famous for $20 on a $15 pickguard, put it on an $80 guitar and sell it for $500 to $1000, it happens all the time, go look!
ACE is not looking to gouge anyone, he's only preventing people from parasitically supporting themselves off his signature, which means he's actually PROTECTING his fans by not having them pay $1000 to some leech for something they can get for next-to-nothing!

..Ace shouldn't charge for autographs, period! But I can see how he's trying to prevent the afterwards market of his signature.
That said,....who cares Ace? Just write some new good music or go reitre somewhere and never be heard from again.

Let's get the facts straight - most musicians at Chiller DO NOT charge for autos if you bring your own legitimate item. Type O, and Michale Graves did not charge me last year to have my CDs signed. AJ Perro DID charge - and let me tell ya, there was NOBODY buying. Freeley needs to show some class here, but alas, he's a member of Kiss, so class is out of the question.

i remember in '95 if you joined 'rock soldiers' you could meet him at his shows. i met him three times in four days, got a few things signed, however, i kept them for myself and didn't sell them away for a huge profit...in other news, WHERE THE HELL IS ACES NEW CD???? In other news, Paul Mcartney and Ringo Starr have decided to tour as THE BEATLES while dressing two others in old beatle clothes and painting their faces with pink makeup so they look like original members...soon Paul and Ringo will go into the studio to re-record abbey road with the hired musicians...of course, this will be released as an actual Beatles cd, but only in Japan...Paul will go on record as to say that the real George harrison was a drug addict and John Lennon never grew as a musician, while continuing to promote the original look of the fabfour...don't get me started! Go Ace go, put the damn cd out for gosh sakes!! (his best solo album, from the those in '78 was so good because Ace HAD TO HAVE A TIME LIMIT. Today, what? Ace needs someone to TAKE the master tapes from him, and just get it out! (rip it out of him, heh!) PS, yep, scab kiss is quite embarrassing.

Why can't Ace just sign the Gibson "Ace" Les Pauls and Washburn AF's? Only the fans and collectors own these.
There are plenty of KISS and Ace items that are collectables, and when signed with verification (photograph) can usher in a higher value if marketed correctly.
No Ebay reseller is going to go and corner the market with these guitars, nor afford to buy them to have them autographed.
I have a Gibson Ace model and would like to have him sign it. I would never think of selling it.
I've seen Ace perform 4 x in the last year and will not be attending the Chiller Expo for the sinple fact he decided not to autograph all guitars. I had Chiller refund my three tickets.
Very disappointed with The SpaceAce!

It is not Ace Frehley himself, it is his representatives. The agency that represents Ace Frehley charges their fee's.
Ace will get paid for the appearence by Chiller's, but since Ace is a client of his booking agency they also need their cut for booking him on the show.
When Ace played in Nashville it cost more for the meet & greet tickets and the way that it was explained to us is that the booking agency that represents Ace and does all the work gets that extra piece of the action.
They don't do it for free. Otherwise Ace would have to do all the legwork in setting up the autograph sessions himself (along with all the rocking).
His agency does this for him "free of charge." In reality the charge really gets passed off onto the fans.
So get off of Ace Frehley's back. The charge probably isn't that much, and if you don't want to meet him... don't pay it. If you really do want to meet him the price is WELL worth it.
Personally, I would like to thank Ace Frehley for his hospitality and patience in meeting so many of us right after kicking so much ass. I am sure that he was exausted, but he acted like a real pro anyway.

I really wish people would read up on shit or know what they are talking about before posting shit on here. No one gets paid by chiller. This will be the first one im going to .......but i read their web site and asked around to people who have went in the past. They make money off the vendors (400 bucks a table) and they do not pay guests. And in other news....ace does NOT have the ultimate say. On his tour he was letting people take photos.......yet there were venues who did not allow it. Contrary to popular belief ACE is not god. He is human like all of us. And to the real fans.....lets just be glad hes still alive.
