SLAUGHTER/STRAPPADO Drummer BRIAN LOURIE Dies At 39

Vocalist/guitarist Dave Hewson of the legendary Canadian band SLAUGHTER (which later evolved into STRAPPADO) has issued the following update:
"[I] just wanted to let everyone know that longtime drummer for SLAUGHTER and STRAPPADO, Brian Lourie, has died of a heart attack at the young age of 39. Brian was one of the best people I have ever met and was a huge part of SLAUGHTER joining in 1987-88 'till we disbanded in 1992. His sense of humor and love for life made him such a wonderful person who will be greatly missed. I will try to [release] more info as it comes. Love you, bro."
Poland's Metal Mind Productions re-released the two albums from SLAUGHTER — "Strappado", the debut album from 1986 featuring an extremely brutal combination of death and trash metal, spiced with some punk and hardcore influences; and "Not Dead Yet/Paranormal", the compilation album from 2001 — in May in Europe (July in the USA via MVD). The limited-edition digipack titles (limited to 2,000 copies) was made available on golden disc, digitally remastered using 24-bit technology.

Always heard of Slaughter(not the lame hairmetal band), but never got a chance to see nor buy anything by them.
Anyways, RIP Brian......my condolences to his family/friends/fans and bandmates.

I'm proud to say that as a Canadian fan of good music SLAUGHTER was a fave band of mine when I was a teen.

Shitty news. And to Deathrasher89, the "Evil Chuck" on the shirt you saw referred to Chuck Schuldiner (RIP as well), who moved to Toronto to play with Slaughter briefly before forming Death.

It's sad the guy died, but why is it that every 2nd rate thrash band (hell in this case 3rd rate) from the 80's is given legendary status by Blabbermouth? Slaughter were horrible, there is a reason they are obscure and forgotten.

Yeah Moron poseur asshole tidbits, this band is legendary for those of us who listen to World Class authentic heavy metal.
Slaughter's debut still passes the test of time, and is a timeless, classic release.
No authentic metal fan would NEVER be caught dead with out " Strappado"
Really glad to see Metal Mind Records give this CD the gold disc/ record collector treatment.
Poseur moron assholes such as tidbits should read up on heavy metal history before slandering legendary, groundbreaking and innovative artist, before posting random mindless nonsense moron drivel.

Well i have to say, that i'm an inconditional fan of this band, specially on Slaughter stuff... i heard about this band when i was 14 years old... Brian only the good die young, R.I.P.... You gave us the best Underground Metal Influences... Metal Rules!!!
