The first Soulfly album had some of the coolest lead guitar I've ever heard -- but after that it was gone. It seems like the debut was a hodgepodge of different contibutors: Does anybody know who was responsible for those incredible leads?

And Conquer is fucking great: Three amazing albums in a row for Soulfly, Conquer being their best one.

Are either joking, deaf or really stupid: Since Rizzo joined the band Soufly had more and MORE solos and of a much better quality than the "let's pick some notes at random" ones they had on their first turd of an album, which was pure nu metal crap with Fred Durst guesting as the icing on the cake: The best Soulfly albums are the last three, where Max went back to this thrash/death metal roots without losing the world music elements that made Soulfly unique: Conquer is by far their best album and their best lead guitar work is on Conquer and Dark Ages. Clean your ears or stop fooling around.

I'm not talking about the QUANTITY of solos; I'm talking about the QUALITY of solos. What you refer to as "let's pick some notes at random" is what I was refering to as artful, tasty lead work. The solos on that first record were original and cool, not random. Rizzo is just ordinary.

And again, could somebody tell me WHO did the solos on the first record? (Or who "picked the notes at random")

jackson bandeira (aka lucio maia) of the brazillian based band nacao zumbi played lead guitar on the self-titled debut.

how can you say Rizzo is ordinary. Marc Rizzo is a guitar god. have you even listened to his solo work? Rizzo is 1 of the top guitarists right now. also I think Marc is to Max like Randy Rhoads was to Ozzy in my opinion.
