Legendary alt-rockers the
MEAT PUPPETS, anchored by brothers
Curt and
Cris Kirkwood, have teamed up with biographer
Jake Brown to author a first-hand chronicle of their 25-plus-year writing/recording career via the forthcoming book
"Meat Puppets: in the Studio", due in stores in late spring 2009. In addition to first-hand interviews with the
Kirkwood brothers, the book will also feature exclusive interviews with ex-drummer
Derrick Bostrom,
Paul Leary (
BUTTHOLE SURFERS guitarist and
MP producer on the band's commercial breakout
"Too High To Die") as well all of the band's producers from their back catalog discussing how such classics as
"Meat Puppets II",
"Up on the Sun", and the aforementioned
"Too High to Die" were created. Additionally, the band's legendary collaboration with
Kurt Cobain on
NIRVANA's
MTV "Unplugged" special will be chronicled. Finally, the book will also feature a real-time chronicle of the making of the band's forthcoming 12th studio LP, as well as a color insert of never-before-seen pics of the band at work in the studio!
