LED ZEPPELIN Members To Tour With ALTER BRIDGE Singer? - Oct. 8, 2008
TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider, whose manager apparently also works with Robert Plant, has told MuchMoreMusic's Matt Wells that LED ZEPPELIN members Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonhman have tapped ALTER BRIDGE singer Myles R. Kennedy to sing with them on the road tour if Plant refuses to join them for the much-rumored ZEPPELIN reunion tour. "They're saying [to Robert], 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go, here's a gazillion dollars on the table," Snider told MuchMoreMusic. "If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid. And he can sing the shit out of ZEPPELIN.' And they're gonna, like, hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in, before having the lead singer of ALTER BRIDGE out with John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Jason Bonham."

A short video clip of Snider talking to MuchMoreMusic about the possibility of Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonhman touring with ALTER BRIDGE singer Myles R. Kennedy can be found at this location.

Plant recently shot down reports that he has signed on to team up with LED ZEPPELIN for a reunion tour. In a message posted on his web site, the singer said that he had no road plans after his recent tour with Alison Krauss, which wrapped on October 5 in Saratoga, Florida.

The message read in part: "Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years. Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with LED ZEPPELIN. Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets."

Plant himself was quoted as saying, "It's both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward. I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects."

Page, Jones and Bonham have reportedly been rehearsing with a series of other vocalists, including Kennedy. There has been no official announcement as to whether the band is planning to tour or record together without Plant's involvement.

I've loved Alter Bridge since they first burst onto the scene (way better than they were as Creed with Scott Stapp in my opinion) and would go to see this tour in a heartbeat!!! Hopefully they'll keep ticket prices lower than $100 though ;)

Good for them. If Plant can't handle the repetoire they have every right to persue someone who can and with Page and Jones in the band they can call it whatever they want to (especially with Bonham's son in the band, Jon would have appriciated that i'm sure). Those two have earned the right.

seriously. you need to man up. you guys aren't 20 anymore. or 30. or even 50. david gilmour finally had the chance to reunite with roger waters in pink floyd pretty recently, played one fantastic show and then gilmour put off the chance for a full tour just because he had a vanity project solo cd coming out....that sounded just like pink floyd lite.

fast forward a year or two, and now rick wright has passed away. pretty sure he would have wanted to tour with the classic lineup of the band one last time........but i guess your solo cd was much more important.

i know you don't think you owe your fans anything robert (which is already a pretty supreme dick move since they've provided a pretty fantastic life for you for many years, you should at very least be grateful for that as you are in the fractional percentage of musicians who have actually made gazillions of dollars in this business. and many, many extremely talented people die penniless.

but at very least, you do OWE this to the rest of the members of zeppelin because they directly helped put you where you are today, and they clearly want badly to make one last victory lap. and they are evidently rehearsed and ready to do so for the first time in decades. and without your inclusion, this simply can't go on because you all depend on each other, as opposed to a solo project you can do at your leisure. and time is running out. will all the original members still be alive and physically able to tour in 2 years? who knows. but you will certainly have the rest of YOUR life to do YOUR projects.

don't be such an egomaniac that you can't see that not only is the time right, there may not be another one.

do it robert.

then you can go play in your happy bluegrass land and make eyes at allison krauss for the rest of your days and people will finally stop bugging you about all this pesky zeppelin shit.

okay? okay.

if you feel "stupider", or rather more stupid - from having read my post then i'm glad to have been of service. though, you clearly don't need any assistance in that area. if you disagree with my opinion fine, write another comment and voice yours. otherwise you're just one of these trolls on here that enjoys baiting people into petty cyber wars because they evidently don't have enough going on in their real lives to keep themselves occupied. that said, this will be my only retort as i have better things to do than try to attempt to match wits with an unarmed person.

yes, i read the whole article. i read all the articles pertaining to zeppelin for that matter, along with many others. i'm also aware of what plant's press releases have said, in fact i also remember the ones they released prior to the announcement of the O2 show vehemently denying there was any truth to the rumours that they were reuniting.

just like i remember reading press releases in the past stating that chinese democracy was coming out, and that there were weapons of mass destruction in iraq.

point being, you can't always believe what you read. and if you think for a split second that plant's statements to the press that he will not be doing this means the door is completely closed on all the negotions going on, and huge dollar amounts being tossed around, then you are every bit the idiot you seem to think i am.

now go fuck yourself.

Do a Led Zepplin + David Coverdale tour and be proactive and say "David will be singing the Led Zepplin songs that everyone likes with the band backing him"

I dont care what kind of denials are taking place, I am willing to bet that Plant and Krause *do* have a romantic relationship going on. You dont say 'fuck you' to tens of millions of dollars for a Zep tour just so you can *work* with her. She isnt gonna make you tens of millions of dollars. Does he need the money? Hell no. But thats alot of damn money to pass up. Not to mention all the fans who want to see them (who never have or have waited around 30 years). But I can see him passing all that money up to work with a girlfriend...whether to fullfill some kind of romantic dream he has or to make her happy. Love can definitely make people be blind to money.

and am shocked at the lack of people defending Plant. He's the only one with any integrity here, they did their one show, went out on a high note, let it go. These guys are all gazillionaires (even Jason Bonham, since I assume he gets a big chunk of his dad's estate and royalties?) and don't need the money. Plant doesn't want to do it, and i think it's an incredible act of HUGE integrity on his part to walk away, maybe he at least cares about the bands legacy! Page has always been money hungry and can't let it go. It'd be different if one of them was broke or something, which is why Pete Townsend agreed to do The Who reunion shows initally years back (Daltry and Entwhistle were bankrupt if i recall), then you could argue the whole 'help out your oldest friends and get them out of debt' angle, but I don't think that is the case here. This is SO lame, and please Robert, continue to pursue your own artistic muse and screw these guys. Disgraceful!

For those who truly appreaciate great music by amazing musicians, what is there to complain about? LZ is a legendary band and I for one am happy that three out of the four members want to proceed in making great music. We should be so lucky that they are still around to do this and that we have a good shot at being able (in our lifetime) to see them live again. Granted, Robert will not be a part of it, but keep in mind that is HIS choice and his alone. He had decades to think about it and had come to the conclusion that he's not interested. Because he doesn't want to continue, should the rest of the band members hold back as well? I too am a fan of Alter Bridge, and in today's lack of rock music, it is extremely refreshing to hear a band that can still rock hard. I've seen Alter Bridge live several times and I have thought time and time again, what a great gig! One of Myles influences is Plant, so here you have a fantastic singer that you know will deliver a great performance. On stage his presence reminds me of Plant, Jager, and Ozzy (at times), and he has his own style that will be remembered for years to come. Since when have we had an 8 minute epic type song on radio? I can't remember, but the song BLACKBIRD should be played on radio as they had played STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN years ago, but radio no longer is the way it used to be, which was about amazing music. Where's the respect for talent these days? Please give me more Zep and Alter Bridge music more often.

I remember when In Through The Out Door was released and how excited I was to hear that they were going to tour the U.S. But we all know what happened. I feel that Robert needs to realize that we buy his solo and other prodjects because we as fans love Zeppelin. I just hope that realizes that and reconsiders his statement of not joining the rest. He needs to remember how he became the vocal god everybody says he is. Get off of your high horse, forget about the bluegrass crap and get on with a tour with Zep Mr. Plant! We all love you and I feel you owe us something in return. Enough of this pussyfootin' around. Page has been working on new material for over five years, after the 02 reunion Page enjoyed playing with his old pals so much and Jones did as well that the idea of working together again really got those two excited at the prospect.

Robert has been distancing himself from Zeppelins legacy since John Bonham passed away and the original statement from the band after Bonham's death was sincere. Katie Couric this past week again asked the question about a Led Zeppelin tour during an interview with Plant and Krauss, Plant said he's not the same guy anymore, which he's maintained for many years. At times he almost seems embarrassed about his past the Led Zeppelin years. What is annoying about his attitude is the fact that none of the remaining members is the same person. All three men are thirty years older and although they've only played together four times as Led Zeppelin since Bonham’s death the 02 reunion gig was the first they've played a full set.

Page, Jones and Bonham are jamming together and probably getting ready to record new material, the hope was Plant would join them after he finished his tour with Krauss. Plant maybe trying to downplay a Led Zeppelin reunion tour or he may be out. Plant never stopped singing Zeppelin tunes live after the band broke up, in fact he was even creating some odd new versions of a couple Zep classics with Krauss during the raising sands tour. Sure it won’t be Led Zeppelin without Plant if Page, Jones and Bonham go on without him; it was a great version of the original lineup with Jason sitting in for John but if Page and Jones want to go out and jam together the hell with Robert I respect Plant’s decision either way.

Jimmy and JPJ can still excite a crowd and with Jason sitting in for his dad, I’d pay to go see them with a new album and singer in tow they can call themselves Led Zippiest.
