AC/DC 'Black Ice' Downloads Hit 400,000 Prior To Physical-Only Release
- Oct. 13, 2008
|
|
Duncan Riley of The Inquisitr reports that according to TorrentFreak, a leak of the forthcoming AC/DC album "Black Ice", due to be released October 20 in physical form only and with no digital sales, has been downloaded 400,000 times from BitTorrent alone. The downloads from BitTorrent may lead to increased sales of the new album; studies have previously found that downloaders are more likely to buy the official release having sampled an illegal copy than those who have never heard the music previously. Read the entire report from The Inquisitr.

Some typical, some blue, some classic, some a little too polished, one borderline pop, but is is 15 songs, & here is a surprise; it pretty much sounds like ac/dc. Off the cuff, can't say it is really better or worse than the last couple. I mean, what is this? The 3rd album in probably like 13 years? Needs maxium volume for sure.

Nothing seems to pop out as being a clear cut new classic on this release. But it is AC/DC and it definitely has that feel to it. Sounds a bit bluesier and a bit mellower. Maybe for playing live, Angus won't have to run around that much. Read more at http://maximumthreshold.net

... of all the kiddies on here. AC/DC may not be metal now, but the music is an evolution. The bands today don't make Black Sabbath or even Pantera sound Metal by comparrison, but it is. Fast and Noisy isn't the only terms that define Metal. It's a style of playing. Most kids today don't dig deep enough to see the roots of metal, which like rock n roll, still lies in the blues. AC/DC may not not be very heavy these days, but they are part of the roots. Anyone who says it all sounds the same, it's because they don't like it. Like EVERY band, that's just thier style. I'm sure Cannibal Corpses' music all so different?

I think Flick Of The Switch was the last good album from them. I don't think songs really started sounding the same until after that album. From what I've heard the new album sounds ok but no real hooks in it, forgettable like the last few they've done. Production and drums sound great tho-but they should have made this album much heavier.

This is easily their worst album. So bland. Way too commercial. Two good songs out of the whole bunch.

I do download and then buy all the time (600 physical CDs and counting!).
As for this one, it works much like a Motorhead album for me...I know exactly what I'm getting the second I press play...some of the songs are standouts and some aren't. But overall, I enjoy the experience. Same rings true for Black Ice. It'll have a place in my car stereo for months to come.

Is the best AC/DC album since "For Those About To Rock" easily. It has hooks to kill for. They may not sound like they're 16 anymore but for 61 years old they still sound pretty damn energetic!

Torrents don't need promotion. Anyone who knows what a torrent is and even remotely likes ACDC already has the album.

ok now it's getting stupid. how can anyone with half a brain not consider AC/DC metal? oh wait these comments come from people who listen to grunt and growl and consider that metal. fine but back in the day bands used to be able play thier insrtaments and have singers who could actualy sing and write songs that had melody in them. music that people could actualy sing along with and rock out to. how anyone can say the opening riff to highway to hell is not metal is just plain stupid. yes this makes me old but I don't care my metal has stood the test of time and lasted unlike the crap you call metal today. if they did not have different names you could not tell them apart. every song sounds the same and the "vocalists" all grunt and growl the same inchoherent garbage.AC/DC and metal bands from the day have talent unlike this shit today. yet you say it all sounds the same? I worry about the future with people like you in charge.

Downloading illegally is stealing period. I am not a Kid Rock fan but there is a YouTube video where he gives his take on illegal downloading. It's fucking hilarious but true. Look it up. Why stop with stealing music. Steal everything! Need a new computer? Steal it! Bill gates is rich as hell. He doesn't need your money. Need a new car? Steal one! Mazda, Ford and Chevy are wealthy companies. They won't miss a few sales. Why pay for groceries? Just steal them. Here's an idea, when you are at work tomorrow, just give your products or services away for FREE. You won't have a job for long. And since you steal everything anyway why do you even need money?

In response to the last post by 'ndende'. When I was in high school, I used to boost CDs from the record store in the mall. Now I download music. There is at least a small difference between the outcome of those two activities, and (gasp!) I still don't give a shit. So, keep listening to Kid Rock's advice and join the National Guard. By the way, saying "if you think it's ok to download music, why don't you steal cars?" is not a logical argument, it's called an "argument by generalization" which is a logical fallacy.

Everything was metal then. Get it?? Motorhead, AC/DC metal. First show I went to was Donington 84. A metal festival where AC/DC headlined. Because THEY WERE classed as a metal band!!! Cut off denim, leather and patches!!! Headbangers/metalheads.
Nowadays everything is split up into sub-genres, probably started with black metal (Venom), and Thrash etc etc. But we were as one almost, Heavy Metal fans. Great days, \m/ ACCEPT \m/
