METAL CHURCH Pulls Out Of OVERKILL's European Tour - Oct. 17, 2008
Veteran Seattle metallers METAL CHURCH have cancelled their participation in the upcoming OVERKILL European tour which is scheduled to kick off on February 20, 2009 in London. According to an official statement, METAL CHURCH guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof "[has been] suffering from back problems for a long time. After several treatments this summer, all looked good, but last weekend it got so bad again that his doctor warned him [against doing] a bigger tour before the problem is solved. We all are very sorry about this, but the health of Kurdt is [more] important than taking the risk!"

"This Present Wasteland", the new album from METAL CHURCH, sold 920 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Check out audio samples on the band's MySpace page.

Sonic Excess conducted an interview with METAL CHURCH vocalist Ronny Munroe a few weeks ago. Listen to the chat at this location.

Fan-filmed video footage of METAL CHURCH's August 14, 2008 performance at Bourbon Street in New Port Richey, Florida can be viewed below.

METAL CHURCH recently announced the addition of guitarist Rick Van Zandt (THE END, ROTTWEILLER) to the group's ranks. He replaced Jay Reynolds (also of MALICE), who left the band for "personal reasons."

These guys are not very lucky, this was a fantastic opportunity for them. Good luck Kurdt anyway.

A tour with Overkill? How fucking METAL is that? Could've been the thing they needed to rise above a little bit.

I have back troubles, too. Get well Kurdt!

You'd think their singer would be the one with the back problems.

I hear he works at Dunkin' Doughnuts and like to eat the inventory all day. Something about YUM YUM YUMMY, DOUGHNUTS IN MY TUMMY!!!

RONNIE MUNROE HAS A FAT GUT FROM EATING ALL THOSE DOUGHNUTS!

And it's straining his back.
