GUNS N' ROSES: 'Chinese Democracy' Promo Clips Posted Online
- Oct. 20, 2008
|
|
|
Sixteen short promotional clips for the long-awaited new GUNS N' ROSES album, "Chinese Democracy", can be viewed below.
(UPDATE: The clips have since been removed from YouTube.)
A slightly revised track listing for "Chinese Democracy" was posted late last week at BestBuy.com, which will exclusively carry the album in the U.S. starting on November 23. A pre-order page for the long-delayed release was posted at the site on Wednesday (October 15), although the pre-order option was later taken off. The page lists 14 song titles for the record, 11 of which have either been played live or leaked online over the past few years. The Pulse of Radio reports that one of those, "Street of Dreams", was previously known as "The Blues", while three titles, "Scraped", "Sorry" and "Prostitute", have not been heard anywhere.
According to Billboard.com, sources who have heard the album say that it opens with a "blood-curdling Axl Rose scream."
Two different covers will apparently be available, along with CD and vinyl versions. What appears to be one of the covers has been posted at the Best Buy site, showing what seems to be a bicycle with a basket perched on it.
There has still not been an official announcement regarding the November 23 arrival date for the record.
"Chinese Democracy" has been in the works since the mid-'90s, with speculation and mystery surrounding the album's 13-year journey, ever-changing roster of players and spiraling recording costs.
Revised "Chinese Democracy" track listing:
01. Chinese Democracy 02. Shackler's Revenge 03. Better 04. Street Of Dreams 05. If The World 06. There Was A Time 07. Catcher N' The Rye 08. Scraped 09. Riad N' The Bedouins 10. Sorry 11. I.R.S. 12. Madagascar 13. This I Love 14. Prostitute

I've been looking forward to this for a long time.Maybe too much. But what I have heard isn't doing it for me. Not to say I hope it fails, I think it will do well. But how many years for this? There's not much here that exceeds. In the big picture its just not worth my time anymore.

Chill. Its not all Axls fault.Theres a lot of parties involved. Some say that the People's Republic of China didn't want this album coming out. You know what I change my mind.I'm backing this album. Its not bad and I think with a few more spins it will grow on me.

After the clips were posted, Geffen Records sued itself.
"Hey," said one Geffen exec. "We need to recoup every penny we can on this sumbitch."

Who finds this stuff? oh yeah - gnr fans who scour the net for sites that are not even 'live' yet. Then they distribute the contents and when the thing is never put out for real, well you know the rest.
Let it be folks, let it happen on its own if its gonna happen.

has not been responsible for the delay of this record since he handed it over to Interscope 10 months ago. Any delays since then and going forward are those of the label NOT GN'R, Axl or band mangement.

This album is going to be very good, maybe great. at least many times better then the rock thats have been on the radio for the last 10 years or more. many times better then nickelbak, linkin park and all that shit! mayb not as good as Appetite or Use your illusion but so what? and maybe its better but noone will agree to that just because people have so good memories of these older albums. its the same with everyband. they keep on making good music but just get older and arent "in" at the moment. but they usually keep their true fans and can bring some people to their shows and so on. just take this album with open mind!!!

I don't get why people feel Axl owes them something? he's a musician and its his right to artistic expression. You don't like the material don't buy it - simple. i've heard a lot of the material and there's some good stuff in there, sure its not the same as appetite era guns but what's the point of rehashing something thats been done so damn good already. id rather have new material with fresh ideas than a generic rock album i'll feel I've heard before?
