METALLICA Drummer Comments On New Stage Show - Oct. 21, 2008
The Pulse of Radio reports: METALLICA kicks off its first North American indoor arena tour in almost four years on Tuesday (October 21) in Phoenix, Arizona. The band staged a "dress rehearsal" show for 1,200 friends, family and fan club members at the Cow Palace in San Francisco last Friday (October 17), unveiling the group's new stage show. Drummer Lars Ulrich told The Pulse of Radio what fans can expect this time. "I'm not gonna give it all away but I can tell you, as should be no secret, that once again we are playing in the round, in the middle," he said. "We have a different stage — this is our fourth time playing indoors in the round, and once again it's different. It's a completely different thing than we've done before and there is a big-ass lighting rig above us, and there is some pretty cool stuff up there. It's pretty cool. I'm pretty psyched."

The 18-song set list from last Friday's rehearsal included five tunes from the new "Death Magnetic" album, as well as favorites like "Harvester of Sorrow", "One", "Enter Sandman", "The Four Horsemen" and "Master of Puppets".

Although METALLICA has played European festivals for the last couple of summers, and a few one-off U.S. shows, the band has not traveled extensively in North America since touring behind 2003's "St. Anger" album.

"Death Magnetic" has sold more than a million copies in the U.S. alone since coming out on September 12.

Lame ass Coffin Light fixtures, I can't think of a better reason to charge a $100 bucks a ticket than that. Maybe listening to James croon like a drunk old country singer while the bands tries to pretend they're still metal, i guess thats wicked cool too. Nothing like a band who sounds like a shadow of thier former selves while the singer seems to think he belongs in Social Distortion. Dumbasses

Dear Metallica,
You overcharge for tickets, play arenas with terrible sound systems, and then add insult to injury by adding a circular stage, it's not a fucking Beatles show, no one wants to look at your back for 3/4 of the set. These people paid $100 each for some unknown reason to hear you play one of the lamest set lists in years, the least you can do is face them while you do it.

Long disgruntled-former fan

First of all, playing in the round is the best way to go, fewer bad seats. Second, Load and Re-Load are great albums! Third, $55 and $75 for tickets is pretty damn cool especially when AC/DC is charging $95 for a ticket. Forth, 'Tallica fucking rules! That is all

Lakepowell - first of all, the round is not the way to go, if you want good seats then pay for them, having a good seat 1/4 of the time is shit. Second, load and reload were bullshit. Third AC/DC shouldn't be able to charge that much either. Fourth Metallica - pre black album ruled, now their a bunch of pussies, if their families come first that's fine, but then you cant charge fans prices like they come first.

LordofSalem - No, that looks nothing like Rammstein. That looks like the fire the fucked James up.

Oh wah wah wah you charge too much your music sucks wah wah wah thrash and burn.. Don't be bitter cause you can't afford to spend a measly $75 on a good show.. When you're as successful they are you can go ahead and tell them how to run a show..

I balk at high prices too. But if arenas fill up with those kind of prices being charged, our economy must not be in as bad a shape as they say it is.

That, or people would rather blow money to applaud millionaires, meanwhile the liquor and video stores down the street are laying everyone off cause no one will spend more than a few bucks there anymore.

Metallica just launched their official Canadian merch store and I just bought some awesome new shirts. I saw them when they played in Toronto in December and it was one of the best shows I've ever been to. You can check out the new store here: https://killthe8.com/merchcdn/pages/8085/METALLICA.htm
