NIKKI SIXX's MICK MARS Tattoo Unveiled

A photo of MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx's newest tattoo — a portrait of CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars — can be viewed below. Kat Von D, the "L.A. Ink" star who is dating the bassist, did the artwork. Footage of Sixx getting the tattoo will be aired on the October 23 episode of "L.A. Ink". The show airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on The Learning Channel ( TLC). Commented Kat: "At first, when Nikki brought the idea of getting this tattoo done, I thought how cool it would be to celebrate a friendship between two people over three decades! "We decided it would be so rad to do the tattoo without telling Mick, so on the show, you'll be able to see the tattoo process, as well as the entire High Voltage crew rockin it out at Crüe Fest in Los Angeles, which to me, was by far one of the greatest shows from the tour — amazing energy!" Sixx wrote on his blog on Sunday (October 19): " Katherine tattooed a killer portrait of Mick Mars on my leg and we got to surprise him with it at the Los Angeles Crüe Fest show. It was a pretty emotional rollercoaster ride to share the whole experience with Katherine, from the beginning of the idea to the end when we finally show Mick." Sixx said he had a "fucking blast" getting the tattoo.

Actually, I think it's a pretty cool tattoo. A great tribute indeed. Mick Mars is by far my favorite member of the Crue. And, MC '94 is an amazing underrated album...everybody should own it. I thought I'd add that in.

To show deep emotion for someone you've known for 30 years is great but to show that emotion for the rest of your life is eternal. Its great to have your friend and bandmate tattooed on you. Great pic of Mick to use, its great and I love that idea.

Its cool that he did it for his friend, and I'm surprised because I didn't think he had anymore room for new tattoos, I thought he, and Tommy especially are pretty much covered fully

Hey,
Give Nikki a break. I personally think he's stronger than most, and he's helped many with their recovery; including my own. So my thoughts are personal. However, having another tat is his business.
I have an ^A^ tat on my lower back because they are my favorite band of all time, and I love and admire them deeply. When I finally met Joe Perry and Steven Tyler, (seperately), I made sure I showed them my wings. Both of these guys were touched by it; and I explained to them my reason for carrying this with me every day; and they do understand. Both those moments with them solidified why I have it; they are the best group of guys you will EVER meet.
IMO, it is a way to show respect and love for someone. Some have other ways of displaying their affection, for many, having your skin display that, is a way to do so.
For Nikki, perhaps his tats are his way of displaying what's important to him, and story of his life's experiences. His new one of Mick is his way of showing deep admiration for someone he obviously cares a hell of a lot about.
I don't see anything negative about that. And to judge his personal relationship with his band members, IMO, is crossing the line. Fans think they KNOW them, and what their relationships are between each other. We don't.
