BRUCE KULICK Hard At Work On Solo Album - Oct. 22, 2008
Former KISS and current GRAND FUNK RAILROAD guitarist Bruce Kulick has been back in the studio working on his next solo CD, tentatively titled "BK3". He writes on his studio blog, "Very proud to let you all know that Nick [Simmons], [KISS bassist/vocalist] Gene's talented son, wrote some killer lyrics for a track that needed something special. Last night he sang in a studio in Burbank, California, as he is on a short fall break from college. Jeremy [Rubolino; producer/engineer] and I were thrilled with his tone and passion, and wait 'till you all hear his unique voice.

"Will you be surprised he is Gene's son? Not really; you can hear some of the Demon's dark undertones in his voice. But his take on singing comes from a much bluesier place than you could guess from a 19-year-old. Nick loves some serious blues singers like Skip James and artists that came from the Deep South."

You gotta respect Bruce as a guitarist & musician. I mean, look at Al Atkins, Neil Turbin, etc... At least Bruce is still writing, touring, recording good rock n roll and not just talking about his KISS affiliation as his only contribution to music.

The only reason I care about this album is because it is bound to have Corabi singing a tune or two on it. I wish Kulick would acknowledge that he can't sing and that when he does, he degrates the quality of the song. He is a good writer and a decent player so I enjoy his stuff. His tone tends to really suck. For some reason he likes this really trebley thin tone that has way too many effects on it. Someone needs to buy him a Les Paul, plug him into a decent amp and take away his pedals so we can hear how he sounds through a decent rig. I have his first two solo albums and with the exception of his singing, they are pretty good. Bring back The Union!
