NEGURA BUNGET Are Not Nazi Sympathizers - Oct. 29, 2008
NEGURA BUNGET's European tour is reportedly in danger of being cancelled after several petitions made their way to the Spanish and French police in which the Romanian black metal band was accused of promoting Nazist and ultranationalist ideas.

Emiliano Lanzoni, the manager of NEGURA BUNGET's record company Aural Music, said in a statement, "We've been informed that Spanish and French police are investigating NEGURA BUNGET's European tour and that there are rumors about cancelling shows because the band is suspected of being Nazi sympathizers or ultranationalists... Well, this is ridiculous. We signed NEGURA BUNGET in 2000, we know the guys in the band quite well after 8 years of positive collaboration, and everyone who has had a chance to meet the band during their tours knows that NEGURA BUNGET is probably the most humble, talented, down to earth and friendly band in the whole black metal scene, where 90% of the black metal bands speaks about violence, hate, satan or whatever is 'evil' or 'wrong. NEGURA BUNGET stands for humanity, nature and emotions. There is NOTHING in their music and lyrics about Nazism or fascism; they NEVER supported such organizations. There's an official statement about this in their website that is online since maybe 2002 and I really can't imagine how police can be so wrong."

Fan-filmed video footage of NEGURA BUNGET's October 21, 2008 performance in Barcelona, Spain can be viewed below.

Probably because the band don't know this story is on Blabbermouth yet. I'm sure they will release a statement as soon as they can and reject these idiotic notions.

Plus, a label defending the band is the first port of call. And Emi, speaking on their behalf here, makes every band that signs to his label sign a declaration they're not racist or prejudice as was inferred by the stupid cops trying to get the tour cancelled.

I can vouch for them personally, having worked alongside them and having had lengthy conversations about their ideologies within the band - which is practically their day to day life anyway.

If that doesn't convince you, then I don't know what would.

For all US promoters, we need a Negura Bunget/Farsot/Wolves In the Throne Room/Krallice tour!!

Why are there no people in the states promoting real, heartfelt Black Metal?
Fuck all the commercial Dimmu Borgir/COF crap, wake the hell up you fools, separate money hungry pigs from real artists!!

The French and the Spanish aren't exactly modest about their own patriotism either so I must be missing something over the outrage here.

Negura Bunget describes a dense black fog emanating from the woods. It's a wonderful, evocative band name composed of their native ancient Romanian language.

If you have yet to hear their last release, OM, you haven't lived. Best black metal album this century, possibly ever.

COMMENT | one of the best BM bands of this decade.

nationalism isn't necessarily a fully developed form of totalitarianism but it IS a big step closer. With fascism you're either part of the problem or part of the solution...either denounce all nations, borders, politics, flags, religion, empire, heritage, patriotism, and start to work together for a better, different world or be guilty of supporting the division, repression and hatred that all of the above foster.

The few people of power who hold dominion over the vast majority of people in the world use all of the above to keep us divided and scared. don't play into their hands.
