AC/DC On The Cover Of ROLLING STONE Magazine - Oct. 29, 2008
AC/DC is featured on the cover of the October 30, 2008 issue of Rolling Stone magazine. This marks the first time in 27 years that the band has appeared on the magazine's cover. Rolling Stone's last major feature on AC/DC appeared 28 years ago to the day, in the October 30, 1980 issue, according to AC-DC.net.

An excerpt from the article can be found at RollingStone.com.

AC/DC's "Black Ice" is Wal-Mart's fastest-selling album of 2008, according to figures released on Tuesday (October 28). The disc, which is being sold exclusively through Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and ACDC.com, has moved more than 780,000 copies since arriving on Monday, October 20. That also locks up the No. 1 spot on this week's Billboard album chart, which comes out today (October 29) and gives the veteran Australian rockers the first chart-topping album of their 30-plus year career. Wal-Mart's specially branded AC/DC stores are also seeing an uptick in sales of T-shirts, other apparel, DVDs and video games.

Special "pop-up" AC/DC stores are open through January 9 in New York City and Los Angeles, where Wal-Mart does not have stores.

"Black Ice" also topped the sales charts in 29 other countries this week, including the U.K., Germany, Canada, France, Argentina, Japan, Australia, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Switzerland and more.

AC/DC kicked off its world tour in support of "Black Ice" on Tuesday night (October 28) in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. They next play on Thursday (October 30) in Rosemont, Illinois.

In other news, a statue honoring late AC/DC singer Bon Scott has been placed permanently at the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbor in Western Australia after being unveiled earlier this year. Scott, who died in February 1980 at the age of 33 from acute alcohol poisoning, is buried in Fremantle.

Just goes to show what a joke of a rag Rolling Stone is. They put Barack nOmaba on the cover twice and never had rock legends ACDC. Rolling Stone is like MTV - nothing to do with music.

DildoniX - He can't be that bad if all these millions of people still buy their CD's and they have sold out gigs all over the world this year, in record times.

This is not their first #1 album. For Those About To Rock hit #1. Also, BlackenedEarth, Obama was on the cover 3 times in the past 9 months. RS sucks.

Actually "AC/DC" is not on the cover. Brian Johnson, Malcolm Young & Angus Young are.

Is it one of those fold out covers and Phil & Cliff are hiding on the inside?

joefiss is right. Their first number 1. album in the states was For Those About To Rock back in 1982. But that album did not debut at number 1. It climbed up there.
