SLAYER: New Song 'Psychopathy Red' Available For Streaming - Oct. 29, 2008
A non-CD-quality version of SLAYER's new track "Psychopathy Red" — which is set to appear on the band's forthcoming album, due out summer 2009 — has surfaced on YouTube and can be streamed below. The Jeff Hanneman-penned song gives a chilling look into the twisted mind of Andrei Chikatilo, a notorious Russian serial killer.

The members of SLAYER spent a couple of weeks in a Southern California recording studio earlier this month tracking three new songs, including "Psychopathy Red".

SLAYER kicked off the European "Unholy Alliance Tour: Chapter III" Monday night (October 27) at the Manchester Apollo in Manchester, England. The trek is scheduled to wrap in Helsinki, Finland on November 27. The band plans to return to the studio early next year to finish recording the new album.

A couple of short video clips of SLAYER in the studio recording the new track "Psychopathy Red" can be viewed below.

Fans who attend any of the upcoming European "Unholy Alliance Tour: Chapter III" dates, will receive "Psychopathy Red" via an exclusive download card that will also include special material from the entire tour's lineup — SLAYER, MASTODON, TRIVIUM and AMON AMARTH. The download card, along with a limited edition "Unholy Alliance Tour" clothing patch, will be given away free only to ticket holders when they arrive at their local venue the night of the show.

"The Unholy Alliance Tour" first launched in fall 2004 with a European edition that featured SLIPKNOT, SLAYER, MASTODON and HATEBREED. The venture was so successful, the first North American trek, dubbed "The Unholy Alliance Tour, Chapter II: Preaching to The Perverted", kicked off in summer 2006 with SLAYER, LAMB OF GOD, CHILDREN OF BODOM, MASTODON, and THINE EYES BLEED stomping and screaming its way to 30 U.S. and Canadian cities. The European run of "Unholy Alliance Tour, Chapter II" took place in fall 2006, featuring SLAYER, IN FLAMES, CHILDREN OF BODOM, LAMB OF GOD, and THINE EYES BLEED.

SLAYER won a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category in the pre-telecast ceremony at the 50th annual Grammy Awards, which was held on February 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. SLAYER was nominated for the track "The Final Six", from the band's 2007 limited-edition "Christ Illusion". The song, written by Araya and guitarist Jeff Hanneman and produced by Josh Abraham, is a chilling look at a hypothesized end of the world. The track made its debut in July 2007 as the "Single of the Week" on MySpace where it had accumulated more than 750,000 plays, an astounding number for a song that received no commercial airplay.

Meat house and mutilate
Eat your child today

But look here satisfaction
Time out - twin to the act?

OH LAWD!
My pain is intimidating
See? My lunch fell here

The human eyes!
Crying out mutilated
Your ice cream fills my bowl

GREAT riffage. It's all about the trills. I went but somehow missed the card. Found a download anyway in 320. In terms of loudness, it's definitely up there, albeit not as crackly/clippy/snare-y as DM.

A left over from Christ Illusion, which i found really boring and unoriginal. Yeah that's right, i didn't like that album.
I don't know why people talk shit on Diabolus, saying it's nu-metal and shit. It had some killer tracks. It took me awhile to get into GHUA, but now it's one of my favorites. Divine Intervention is their most underrated.

That mid-tempo break at teh middle of the song was pretty cool coz it was unexpected. More interesting things like that in the upcoming album would be really nice.

And Tom reminded me of Brian Johnson at the end.

That is Slayer as I know and love them.

As another poster mentioned above, I'd be satisfied with that level of mastering on the album. It occurred to me recently that one of the things I love about my old '80s thrash albums is the production (or lack thereof). That kind of raw quality lends a gritty feel to the music that just isn't there anymore. A great example is Among The Living - it almost sounds like it's gonna fall apart at times, but that somehow lends a kind of insanity to it that makes it all the more metal.

And I expect nothing less from SLAYER:
HUGE fan here, I love ALL of their albums, yes even the GROOVE-oriented Diabolus in Musica and God Hates Us All that metalers love to hate: They had to progress and experiment a little and they did it successfully indeed.
Christ Illusion was a fine return to classic Slayer sound and the new album is gonna be even better, judging from this track, which I'm sure is far from the best.

Now THIS is what I've been waiting for. You can tell Hanneman wrote this track from the straight-to-the-throat punk edge it's got, which this band's been missing ever since Kerry started writing everything.

This album needs to come out ASAP.

True Slayer fans don't want Tom to stop screaming, we don't want Kerry and Jeff to stop shredding, we don't want Slayer to start "experimenting" and writing ballads and hiring a band therapist. When Slayer puts out something new, we don't want surprises...we want it sound like FUCKIN SLAYER!!!!!
