GUNS N' ROSES' 'Chinese Democracy' Single Best 'Mainstream Rock' Debut Since 'Don't Cry' - Oct. 31, 2008
According to Billboard.biz, GUNS N' ROSES' new single, "Chinese Democracy", has made a splashy bow across a bevy of Billboard's and Radio and Records' rock airplay charts — after only five days of airplay. It debuts at No. 12 on Mainstream Rock, No. 15 on Active Rock, No. 37 on Modern Rock and No. 7 on Rock. On Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, which began in 1981, it's the band's best debut since 1991 when "Don't Cry" opened at No. 4.

GUNS N' ROSES' new album, "Chinese Democracy", will be released in the U.S. exclusively through Best Buy. The 14-song set will be available on CD, vinyl, and as a download. While singer Axl Rose has remained silent, co-managers Irving Azoff and Andy Gould said in a statement, "The release of 'Chinese Democracy' marks a historic moment in rock n'roll. We're launching with a monumental campaign...that matches the groundbreaking sound of the album itself. GUNS N' ROSES fans have every reason to celebrate, for this is only the beginning."

One new song, "Shackler's Revenge", debuted on September 14 through the Rock Band 2 video game, while another, called "If The World", can be heard in the new film "Body of Lies".

"Chinese Democracy" is the first album of new material from GUNS N' ROSES since 1991's "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II".

First? Anyway, I'm wondering if girls like this song? It's grown on me, but I have to trim off the lame intro/outro. Just get to the song already.

Plus, Axl's scream doesn't mesh with the first line of the song which sounds like they were recorded years apart.

should've released "Better" as a single first, that one has a stronger chorus in my opinion.

Honestly now... is this song popular because of its quality, or because of the band name attached to it?

The intro works well as the beginning of an album, or as a possible first song on a tour, but they should have edited it for the radio version. Just start it where the main riff kicks in.

It's a great song, Axl has managed to capture the vintage Guns N' Roses sound. He screams in the intro, he's layered his vocals nicely.
You can hear him singing higher and lower over each other.

It's pretty lame if you ask me.

I think its funny how the new GNR bashers are fewer now that the album is finally coming out than there were before.....
Anyway, Im glad its coming out, im a big fan of GNR (new GNR included). I like the finished version of the song, although i also liked the demo version thats been circulating forever. I really hope that none of the songs that were leaked over the years are too different on the album, cause ive really become a fan of those versions, (Better, IRS, Madagascar, There Was A TIme, The Blues((Street of Dreams)). Too bad OH My God isnt on there, i like that song alot, but i suppose it was already released and would have been like Metallica putting I Disappear on Death Magnetic....(pointless).
Looking forward to seeing them on tour again, the last time around in 06 was phenomenal!!!!!

This is utter bullshit.

The record company is paying millions to radio stations to play it on constant rotation. No one is calling in radio stations and asking for it.

Doesn't anyone realize that payola has been around since the 40s-50s and hasn't gone anywhere? The only difference is record companies are no longer paying the d.j.s, they make deals with the stations.

Sharon Osboure went on record that she paid $150,000 for stations to play her daughters album as everyone does. They are paying millions for this hunk of crap to be played plus most of the companies are connected to help promotion.

Don't believe the hype, no one wants to hear G'n'R.

benderisgreat I'm not "bashing" Guns 'N Roses, it's the lack of authenticity surrounding this c.d. and the insane amounts of time and money that went into making this thing. It's definately The Axl Rose Project.

ive slated Axl in past posts. ive got all their albums, except Spaghetti incident..i love Appetite and Illusion 1 and 2..but im afraid ive lost interest in GnR. yes, Axl is a very talented guy, but to wait 17 years for this to come to light..and we get this song which to me is average, it doesnt make me go 'FUCK YEAH!!!!'..do you honestly think after all this time that this is definetly worth the wait???? i fucking hate Axls' attitude..i will never see this as Guns n' Roses..it isnt, it will always be Axls band. Izzy, Duff, Slash, Matt, Dizzy are all gone. lets put it in another perspective..another example of how i dont think its GnR, that its just a name..not what GnR were.......its like taking Bruce Dickinson, Dave Murray, Nicko McBrain, Janick Gers and Adrian Smith out of Iron Maiden and just having Steve Harris and a new band, would you still consider it to be Iron Maiden, with some of the core missing? yes, there were several lineup changes, but the core of the band were there.

i can see this selling shitloads, yes there might be some really good songs, but Axl will never have my respect..hes a fucking ego-trip..i really want this to flop, but it wont

Prostitute is the best song on the album. I heard it when it was under another name on Youtube for a couple of days a few months ago. It is excellent.

The album will crush the top bands of taday like Slipnot and Hinder (thank goodness).

also, i will tell you what makes ME so special..i, along with millions of others, have bought his music in the past, i, along with millions of others have lined his pockets..so, without the likes of me and millions of others, he would not exist. as for you..what makes you so special? needs. yep..youre special needs.

Pretty tall definition there. The video for "Don't Cry" did have Axl screaming from the grave, a catfight at the Rainbow bar and a 1967 Mustang flying off a cliff. "Chinese Democracy" has its work cut out for it.
