LAMB OF GOD: New Album Title Announced - Nov. 3, 2008
Richmond, Virginia-based metallers LAMB OF GOD have set "Wrath" as the title of their fifth studio album. The record will be issued in North America by Epic on February 24, 2009 and will be the band's first release outside North America through Roadrunner Records.

"Wrath" was produced by Josh Wilbur and was recorded in studios in New York, Virginia, and New Hampshire.

LAMB OF GOD finished the touring cycle for the Grammy-nominated album "Sacrament" at the end of 2007. The two-year trek was documented in the gold-certified DVD "Walk with Me in Hell" and culminated with the band headlining arenas across the U.S. last December.

The band took the entirety of 2008 off the road to focus on the writing process for "Wrath".

"This album is going to surprise a lot of people," comments drummer Chris Adler. "Typically bands that get to where we are in our career begin to slack off, smell the roses and regurgitate. We chose a different path. No one wants to hear another band member hyping a new record. 'Wrath' needs no hype. We have topped ourselves and on February 24 you will feel it."

LAMB OF GOD will embark on an extensive tour that will cover the globe. As previously announced, the band will support METALLICA on the December leg of their tour. The first leg of the "Wrath" world tour will start in Finland on February 6 and will include dates in the UK, Australia, and Japan.

Confirmed dates so far:

Feb. 06 - Finland - Frostbite Festival
Feb. 08 - Belfast, IRE - Mandela Hall
Feb. 09 - Dublin, IRE - Academy

I've been to many heavy shows over 20 years, and LOG was one of the most brutal, energetic live shows I've ever seen.

These guys, in my eyes, are carrying the banner of American Metal.

Love em. Can't wait for Wrath!

If you look in the opening paragraph, you'll see this:

The record will be issued in North America by Epic on February 24, 2009 and will be the band's first release OUTSIDE North America through Roadrunner Records.

Got that?

As for first week sales, I guess it could hit 100k. They've had a lot of momentum up to now. Sacrament debuted at No.8 on the Billboard 200, selling 63,000 copies. They've toured with Slayer and Megadeth, headlined a bill with Machine Head, Trivium and Gojira as well as co-headlining a tour with Killswitch Engage in large theatres/arenas. Let's not forget that they're touring with Metallica just before Christmas! And then there's the Grammy nomination as well plus the strong sales achieved by their Walk With Me In Hell DVD.

Yeah, I reckon Wrath could be their biggest release yet.

Agreed. Sacrament < Ashes of the Wake. I know LoG can perform, but will they?

I'll see them with Dimmu in February. The first time I saw them live, their on stage performance was pretty spot on.

that statement by Adler is just another reason why this record might be the heaviest ever. I can expect over exaggerated statements like that from D. Randall and maybe a few others, but Chris Adler tells it like it is. He wouldn't bullshit

Sacrament < Ashes of the Wake < As the Palaces Burn

Having said that, Sacrament is still far and away better than nearly everything else in the metal genre these days. So I can't fuckin wait for Wrath. It's gonna kill.

this is for the people who make up these stupid names for bands they don't like. like for instance, rack of lamb, lame of god, lamb of shit. i think i've seen these names before and no one has said anything about it. it's not funny, they're corny, and it's a waste of space. sorry, but someone has to same something. maybe someone already did, i don't know.

Wrath!!! Simple, but not terribly original. For all the bitches that praise Randy for his "growth" in the vocal arena, I say bull shit. Superior metal drug down by sub par run of the mill growl & groan vocals. Great riffs, precision drumming, brought down by shit vocals. Save me the he fits the music routine. They need an agressive singer for sure, but not this guy. I know they are loyal to their Richmond brothers, but another album, another 36,000 albums sold, etc. Good luck on the Metallica tour boys.

First off, I know this band has so much potential. As the palaces burn(besides the muddy production) and New American Gospel are the best albums in my opinion. Ashes was a great album as well. Then Sacrament was released, and it was a step backward. Machine experimented to much with the production on it, and I feel all the music was kinda forced. Judging from the "making of sacrament" DVD, none of them really looked to happy about it, especially Chris Adler. Lamb of God has more potential then any metal band out now, and I hope they create a metal masterpiece. They still have not created their pinnacle record, and I hope they pull it off this time. Randy should go back to his New American Gospel Screams, Chris should stick with his Ashes of the Wake Drums, and The guitar work should be as catchy as As the Palaces Burn. If all of this exceeds, the album will get a 10 !!!
