CHRIS CORNELL Shoots Down LED ZEPPELIN Rumors

Former SOUNDGARDEN and AUDIOSLAVE frontman Chris Cornell has spoken out for the first time about rumors that he's been asked to fill in for Robert Plant on a proposed LED ZEPPELIN reunion tour. The trek would feature original guitarist Jimmy Page, original bassist John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham taking over on drums for his late father, John Bonham. "I have not been approached so far to fill in for Robert Plant on the upcoming ZEPPELIN tour, but that isn't to say I won't be," Cornell told MTV News. "I've heard that from about 200 people now, and it might be one of those situations where it's just an online rumor or it might be true. But if you see anyone from LED ZEPPELIN around, let me know. I think I should actually fill in for Jimmy Page on the Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss tour." Read more from MTV News.

First off, why have Cornell fill in for Plant? Neither one of them have the vocal range that they used to, no one wants to see any one except for Robert Plant with the rest of Zep anyway, and I highly doubt that by the media constantly calling out different vocalists to perform with Zeppelin, that it's gonna light a fire under Plant's ass to go and do the job himself. If anything, it's probably pissing him off more and more, to the point where he doesn't want to perform with them at all!
If it happens, it will be on Zeppelin's terms, no one else's. Period.
BTW, anyone else find it pathetic to see/hear Cornell perform Hunger Strike with the dude from Linkin Park, only to have him sing Eddie Vedder's parts, while the LP guy sang the Cornell parts? Terrible.........

I saw Cornell last summer. He was singing better than I've ever heard him...and I saw Soundgarden 5 times beginning with a club show 19 years ago.

That's cool, I've heard diferent opinions from different sources as far as Cornell's live performance nowadays.....personally, I say, fuck the filling in for Plant bullshit and REFORM SOUNDGARDEN!!!!!!!!!!!

Was that a joke? Wow, not bad Chris, I didn't even know you had one of those; you know, senses of humor.
Cornells sense of humor aside, I haven't heard this rumor yet, but I think it would be the best possibility I've heard so far. I still think they should call it something else though, but I think CC could definately pull off the Zeppelin tunes. I still wouldn't buy a ticket for "Led Zeppelin" if all the surviving members weren't there though.

That would be horrid. I'm glad it's not happening. Weiland's solo release was better than Chris'. That being said, both made me vomit. So no one wins.

hahaha saying Chris Cornell is a shitty singer is just stupid!!
he have lost some of his stage presence but i saw him live 2 times 2 years ago and his voice was great. and he's much better singer then most of the rock/metal vocalists that have come out for the last 10-15 years or more. but Plant should just go with them, that would be great and who gives if he couldt hit the high notes night after night, he gets old just like anyone else. it would just be great for people to see them one last time and for them to play again few gigs.
and Plant is not overrated, he's probably more underrated then overrated. Chris Robinson would be great for the gig. and yea i agree the guy from linkin park singing Hunger Strike hehe, thats a joke, just like Linkin Park!!!

The only obvious choice for a Zep reunion, other than Plant, is Axl. Two weeks into the tour he could fire everyone, take over the Zeppelin name, tour under the name and start pre- production for "Back Through The Out Door and In Again"... slated for an early 2018 release.

Two of the biggest douches around. At least lol likes Staley who was the man indeed! Anselmo is cool too as always but to come up with shit like Cornell sucks for one song is just stupid! Cornell has: Range, tonality, a good ear, a unique voice overall, and is creative as can be, not to mention unique! To say that he is a shitty vocalist is just so fucking wrong! To say Plant is shitty is also wrong!
You guys gotta only be teenagers. Not to say all teenagers speak that way but adults really shouldn't.

for those of you who say chris cornell sucks, that is hilarious. Anyone with a musical ear can tell that he has talent and still(even though his voice was better in the 90's) can sing better than most vocalists out there. I can totally imagine him singing zep tunes, it goes together well(imagine "if it keeps on raining the levy going to break"). that will sound sweet. I don't find black hole sun annoying either, what???
