CHRIS CORNELL Says LED ZEPPELIN Tour Without ROBERT PLANT Would Be 'Completely Depressing' - Nov. 10, 2008
Former SOUNDGARDEN/AUDIOSLAVE singer Chris Cornell has told Canada's Sun Media that he's not interested in filling Robert Plant's shoes should those reports about LED ZEPPELIN guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham touring next year with a replacement singer come to fruition.

"I would never do anything like that whether I were approached or not," Cornell said. "It just doesn't make any sense to me at all. I would not want to go see me performing LED ZEPPELIN songs with the two other guys that used to be in a band called LED ZEPPELIN while Robert Plant is out somewhere touring.

"That's not a ticket I would buy. God bless 'em, but that's not LED ZEPPELIN. I find it completely depressing. I'd never do anything like that. I mean just out of respect to the legacy of the band."

LZ is, was and always will be depressing!

Btw, I heard Chris was offered the gig but couldn't find the right kind of girlie shirts to wear on stage like Plant........oh well his voice is too raspy to sing LZ anyway. You have to sing like a 6 year old girl to sing it right.

I was able to see cornell with audioslave in 03' and he was great. It certainly would be depressing if he were to sign on with "Led Zepplin"
I was also lucky enough to see Mr. Plant in his solo touring days 3 different times. No one sings like robert plant. with that said chris cornell is the voice of the new generation with Robert plant being the voice of the old generation. please dont do this Chris.

They just called it Bonham? Or even better! Call it the Kyle Gas project and get Jack Black to front it!!!!! The twin guitar attack between Page and Kyle would definately bring the Rock!

Would be stupid to tour without Plant but if they were to get someone get Jack Russell from Great White. He can do Plant to a T, but that being said if anyone would pay to see this show without Plant they would be a complete moron.

but..............
from the bands perspective, it would really suck if the whole world wanted to see you tour again but your dumb ass of a lead singer would rather sing country music with some stupid b&*ch.

lets not forget we like the music that goes along with the vocals just as much as we like the vocals. take one away from the other and they both or kind of bland and boring, put em together and you got led zeppelin.

Seeing as the other two kings of grunge or hard rock are no longer with us (kurt cobain and layne stayley) and there bands cannot do a reunion with the original singers, I think it is up to Soundgarden to step up to the plate and make some quality original hard rock once again. Cornell use your voice in a band that deserves to have it.

Shameless Promotion #3 : hey everyone please search Split Lip Grin on youtube and check out our videos and let us know weather they are pure garbage or hugely epic with power enough to destroy all those who challenge us.

Relax, folks. I highly doubt that LZ is planning to tour as a retread act.

This is clearly another case of Jimmy Page trying to get Plant to go along with him by appealing to his ego.

You'll remember the 80's, when Plant was doing his own thing and having fun with it, and wouldn't consider even doing a duo kinda thing with Page, let alone anything with the LZ name on it.

Enter "Coverdale-Page", a likeable but forgettable effort put together because David Coverdale can do a barely-passable Robert Plant---and also because Jimmy Page knew that Robert Plant can't stand David Coverdale.

All of a sudden, we then have "Page-Plant", the "Unledded" gigs, and an episode of "Unplugged" if memory serves.

Jimmy is just doing the same thing here.

I don't really want a tour with Cornall. But I would love to hear Cornell take a shot at the Zep classics.

But, I would rather have another Temple of the Dog album!

Why are we even reading anything Cornell says on here? He makes shit music these days and his opinion on anything is meaningless. Reform Soundgarden then we'll listen to what you have to say.

since when was Nirvana quality and original hard rock? they were ok but nothing more, few good songs on each album and they were just a little harder punk band.
lets just hope Plant goes on the tour, thats what people want. and so what he wouldnt make the high notes all nights, he's older and they are very difficult to do, but they and are great on stage together and even Plant on a bad day is better then most of the younger singers today.
and it would be great if Cornell would get depressed again and start writing some great songs again with or without Soundgarden

Ok, let's play a game called "Decisions, Decisions".

Close your eyes for a moment and pretend that you're Robert Plant.

Ready? K.

Robert Plant, right now you have 2 choices before you:

1)You can get back together with Led Zep, go on a mega tour, spend the next year or two in hotel rooms, airplanes and locker rooms, eating catered meals, and every night you play 15 songs or so that you wrote 30-plus years ago. You make millions of dollars to add to your already too-big pile.

2)You can continue doing what you're doing now, making new music that's interesting if not ground-breaking, play gigs and small tours at your own leisure, without the pressure or fatigue that you'd get with Zep--let's face it, Robert, you're not getting any younger. The downside is that you won't make nearly as much money. But, we almost forgot to mention it.....you get to do all that with Allison Krauss.

So, what's it gonna be, Mr. Plant?

......Thank You.
