BLIND MELON Launches Vocalist Search - Nov. 11, 2008
The reactivated BLIND MELON has launched a vocalist search following the departure of Travis Warren.

Travis left the band last week, forcing BLIND MELON to cancel its U.S. tour which was set to begin on November 7 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The group initially hoped to be able to play some of the shows with vocalist Chris Shinn, who formed UNIFIED THEORY with BLIND MELON's Christopher Thorn (guitar) and Brad Smith (bass), filling in, but those plans were eventually abandoned.

Commented the band: "It's time for us to move forward now. Any more time spent with anger and insult is wasted time. One of the things that the last two years has taught us all over again is that we love playing music together.

"The eleven previous years were spent healing and dealing, and we came back with an even stronger bond. Our dream, what this is really all about for us, is to have the chance to make something great. A great album. A great show. As we said before, we will endure just about anything for that.

"So we're going to try to press forward immediately, and we want to find a singer to go with us. In our minds, Travis set the bar pretty high. And Shannon? Well, that goes without saying. We're looking for somebody from outer space that has their feet on the ground. We're looking for somebody who has a voice that inspires new songs and sheds new light on our old songs. We're not looking for clones, drones, jokers, clowns, or drama queens. If you are interested or know somebody else who is, send an mp3 or video/audio link to blindmelonsinger@gmail.com. We'll check it out and get back to you if we think you might be a good fit for the band."

For BLIND MELON's lengthy explanation for what led to the split with Travis Warren, read the band's MySpace blog.

BLIND MELON's first studio album in 13 years, "For My Friends", was released in April via Adrenaline. The CD introduced Warren as a replacement for late frontman Shannon Hoon, who died in 1995.

BLIND MELON's current lineup includes original members Rogers Stevens (guitar), Christopher Thorn (guitar), Brad Smith (bass) and Glen Graham (drums).

Blind Melon was and is a great band, and so what you remember one song being played on mtv, so you didnt listen to the albums???
and one song on mtv doestn mean shit realy, just like most other famous rock bands, the albums are usually full of songs better then the hits, even though in this case No Rain was a great song, but Soup is much better album but it had no hits. just like most metal bands they dont have any hit and that doesnt mean they are shit right??? thats means even more today that they are good, and just a little to complex for radio or people who listen to 1-2 songs an album or only listen to whats being played on the radio.
the last Blind Melon album was very good and its too bad Travis is no longer with them, hope they find new singer soon.

The 2 albums released were great & truly an underrated band. Anyone I know, & most of my friends are more hard rockers, all agree they were great, really far exceeding the one single. That wasn't indicative of their other material & they grew alot on the 2nd album. I'm not some kind of hippie Melon Head, just telling you, they were great.

I'll make a shoehorn outta your shin
I'll make a lampshade of durable skin
And oh, don't you know that I'm
always feelin' able
When I'm sittin' home and I'm carvin'
out your naval
I'm just sittin' here carvin' out
your navel
When will I realize that this skin
I'm in
Hey, it isn't mine
And when will the kill be too much
meat for me to hide on
Hey, I could really use a couple
of hands
To complete one hell of a plant stand
Oh, don't you know that I'm caught
here in the middle
Making rib cages into coffee tables
I'm just makin' em into coffee tables
And when will I realize that this skin
I'm in
Hey, it isn't mine
And when will the thrill be too much
meat for me to find anymore
Oh, because
you know I can't hide
But oh how hard I try
But this is just the shape I'm in,
oh yeah
And though you know I can't hide
But oh how hard I try
But this is just the shape I'm in

wrong nyc333...I had to scalp a ticket outside their sold-out show at Hiro ballroom in march, and that place holds about 1000. Show was amazing, amazing band....hope they find the right singer. I see people bash this band and it always amazes me...I read an interview with Robert Plant and he raved about them and talked about how much he heard Zep in them. I agree...not necessarily in the sound as much as the spirit. they take chances with the music. That's why Page/Plant took them on tour. They are still great too....and had sold out a much larger place in NYC on friday night....i'm bummed

I Really do like Blind Melon, but they belong on Blabbermouth like Slayer belongs on a Phish tour. I'm just sayin'.
