Bassist FLOYD LONDON Quits THE ALMIGHTY - Nov. 13, 2008
Bassist Floyd London has left the reactivated Glasgow, Scotland, U.K.-based band THE ALMIGHTY.

He said in a statement, "I am desperately sorry to have to tell you all that I have left the band. This follows a week of sleepless nights and I do not take this decision lightly.

"I have been deliberating this move for over a year now, and have been unhappy for longer. The boys know my reasons, both personal and political.

"I take this opportunity to once again thank you all for your unwavering support throughout my career in the band and with my recent illness.

"I bear no malice or ill-feeling towards the band and wish them every success for a prosperous and rewarding future."

Floyd London was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) in September 2004. After intensive chemotherapy, Floyd is now in remission and is passionate about raising money for leukaemia research. In 2006 the band performed two sell-out concerts in London and Glasgow in aid of leukaemia research.

"I wanted to do something to help and raise money for leukaemia research so they can keep funding research to save lives like mine every day. So much more work is needed; I was lucky enough in that my cancer responded to the treatment — but some people aren't so lucky", said Floyd.

THE ALMIGHTY was recently forced to cancel its previously announced "Powertrippin' Again Tour", which was scheduled take place in December. More information on the reasons behind the cancellation can be found on the group's MySpace blog.

THE ALMIGHTY issued its first-ever comprehensive career retrospective, entitled "Anth'f**ing'ology (The Gospel According To...)", in CD/DVD format in February 2007 via Sanctuary/Castle. The set includes all of the band's thirteen U.K. singles plus bonus tracks taken from all of its seven studio albums to date. The DVD features all the promo videos for all the singles.
