The Pulse of Radio reports that TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan is putting together a cabaret-style show for a string of dates at The Palms in Las Vegas, beginning in mid-February. According to an inside source, the shows will feature both comedy and music. Keenan is not a stranger to this kind of gig — he told The Pulse of Radio that his side band PUSCIFER (see video below) actually evolved out of a similar type of show he used to do in his pre-TOOL days in Hollywood. "Generally started off as a name that I was attaching to some of the comedy things I was doing with (comedian) Laura Milligan at this club called Tantrum which existed in the Diamond Club on Hollywood and La Brea," he said. "(We'd) have a variety show, lots of talent coming through there just kind of trying out their new stuff. So PUSCIFER was kind of like the band that would kind of close the show."
Milligan is a comedian and actress seen on "Mr. Show" and more recently in "Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny". Several performers from both projects used to work on the same gigs as Keenan.
Keenan's Vegas act will reportedly incorporate both friends and outside musicians to perform some music from PUSCIFER and other material.
PUSCIFER's debut album, "V Is For Vagina", came out in the fall of 2007.
TOOL has been on vacation since the end of last year, when it finished an 18-month tour in support of its 2006 album, "10,000 Days".

Some new material from TOOL would be very nice but it seems that he is tired of the band? And a tour with a show in sweden would be nice!

Maynard can do whatever the fuck he wants, that's his right. But seriously this much time and effort could have been spent on a new APC record not this nonsense. I know it will never happen but that band captured pure fucking magic and it'd be nice to hear just one more album....

"this band sucks". Takes so much intelligence to post that comment. You just used up half your IQ in this thread and the day isn't even done yet.
It's an apostrophe, not a comma dickwad. ' is and apostrophe. , is a comma.

No surprise. Sounds about right for him.

Really, Maynard has a great voice, but he's also the most pretencious guy I can think of. Tool is also a great band but really, and sorry to say, Maynard is the weakest link. Really Tool write these creepy, complex, sittring songs and then he turns around and writes songs about bombing L.A. and his cock. Tool deserve better.

and this band sucks! I wonder what he is thinking by bringing this garbage of a band to Vegas.

A lot of people here with negative posts seem to think that they matter posting this garbage :). Why don't stop whining and go to do not Sucking things, like use your hands and start doint ups and downs with your billie boy, huh ? :D
I remember you from an old Taproot thread. Remember, when you were calling me names for posting negative things about that horrible band that you love so much? What are you, the blabbermouth police?
Not that I agree with "hahawtf", because I think Tool is awesome, but if you're going to rip on someone for their opinion, I'd like everyone to know that you are a Taproot fan so they have some context.
Oh, and if you're going to grade posts like they're English exams (making fun of the guy for a typo), you should know that you can't "use up" your IQ. It stands for intelligence quotient, and it measures your relative intelligence against the average (100 by definition). So your statement makes no sense, which leads me to believe you have the IQ of about 50.
Please put on a helmet before you hurt yourself.

...selling out? i mean shoot, i see nickelback, staind & brit brit all doing cabaret shows, so yeah I guess Maynard is a sell out.
Jesus fucking Christ people, it's a great fucking idea. Why folks want to see artists do the same thing over and over again is beyond me. If you can't grow, you aint shit.

First of all, that was probably by far the best rip on someone I have ever seen on this board. Hahaha! Good stuff really...
Anywho, in relation to this thread...
Maynard never does albums 'frequently' with any of his bands. APC was brilliant, and to whoever said he is the weak link in Tool, he's also one of the most creative members of not only Tool, but APC, and has multiple side projects, and although you may hate a lot of them or his lyrics, you can't deny his love for creativity (which is never going to be loved by all anyway, it's part of being an artist)
Also, to whoever said he is a sellout with Chris Cornell, that's got to be a joke. I'm no big Maynard fan myself, but I tend to stand up for the 'artist' even if I'm not a big fan of all they do or whatever, I just like creative people in general. I think Maynard is far from a sellout. Look at his work with Puscifer! If that's selling out, who has he sold out to? The weirdo freaks? Noone really was into that albbum at all. I'd call him a sellout if he brought out another APC and Tool album every year, because to me, although brilliant in my opinion, I'd rather him spend time than just slap one of those names on an album just to make a buck.
My opinion, but I think Maynard is one of the only 'real' artists out there with the kind of recognition he has in the industry. People usually go weird and freaky after they sell a few million records and pretty much sellout to their morals and beliefs, I still think Maynard holds his own and has stayed true to what he has always done, and that takes guts and nuts, and I respect him for it.

Maynard is by far not the weakest link in Tool. That guy has an amazing voice and they wouldn't sound like they do without him. That goes for any member of that band! Tool sounds the way they do because when all of them get together, thats the mixture! APC is the same thing, go listen to Ashes Divide...great album, but its not the same without Maynard, its basically APC without Maynard singing, which IMO, doesn't stand up to MDN and TS....and BTW 10,000 days is amazing...They went from a straight up rock band to a Progressive monster...if the music is too hard to comprehend, then I suggest you go back to listening to Blink 182...
