DR PEPPER Free-Drink Offer Not Working Out As Planned

According to WalletPop.com, Dr Pepper's web site appears to be having a hard time keeping up with demand for a soda following the soft drink manufacturer's announcement earlier in the year that it would give a free drink to everyone if GUNS N' ROSES' long-awaited new album, "Chinese Democracy", actually dropped in 2008. Interested fans are being asked to visit DrPepper.com today (November 23), the day "Chinese Democracy" is released in the U.S. exclusively via Best Buy. After registering online, fans will receive a coupon redeemable for a 20-oz. Dr Pepper wherever the drink is sold. The twist: the coupon is only available for 24 hours and will expire on February 28. Repeated attempts by WalletPop.com staff to reach DrPepper.com have resulted mainly in a longtime "loading" message on the main page. When WalletPop.com has managed to get in, the coupon location wasn't immediately clear. It's apparently behind "Promotions" and then "Free Dr Pepper" — but then that page wasn't loading for WalletPop.com either. Then WalletPop.com tried 1-888-drpepper (1-888-377-3773), as recommended to the site by a company spokesman. WalletPop.com called midday and got an operator after a 15-minute wait. The spokesman also said the company was working to add more servers to handle the web traffic — this also around noon, 12 hours into the 24-hour promotion.

didn't they know that their servers would be put to the test with tonnes of traffic if they offered a free Dr. Pepper to 300 million people who had to claim it within 24 hours??

After many failed attempts to get the damned coupon, I went to the dr pepper wikipedia page, and clicked on the link for the official site. They had the link for the coupon there. Goes to a register information page. You have to do it twice to get a submit button. After that...page load error. Agreed that Pibb is way better anyway.

At 6:15 AM Eastern time, three times in a row I could not get on...a bit later I did, and registering was simple....lower left corner was a direct click ad for the Free Dr. Pepper, but no mention of Chinese Democracy at all.

the above link skips the main page and goes right to the registration form. It appears that it's easier to get in now so it may actually work. don't ask me why I actually care about this.
I am a little pissed that they didn't mention Chinese Democracy at all on the page considering that's the only reason people care about Dr. Pepper for today. They could at least give some thanks to GNR

i went to drpepper.com and i had no problem getting in, you just have to keep reloading till yu get in, I went there at 1:00 a.m. gave my info and it said u will recieve your couple within 4 to 6 weeks. Sorry everyone is having a problem, dr pepper never lied to me, come on now no one else steped up to the plate to give us anything, fuck its not like it took 14 years to get a free dr pepper, so quit you bitchin, god u have got to have something better to do than whine.

well I got fired from my job, the wife and kids disowned me, my friends all think I've lost it, even the dog forgot who I was.......but after 15hours I have succeded, and in just a few mailing days I will have a coupon....in which I will have to walk (lost my job so paying for gas is out of the question) and when I get to the local corner store I will finnaly have my FREE DR PEPPER

I also tried for this promotion, just to see if they would come through with it.
Guess what, they did not, what a shock ! A company this large did not have servers that could support this promotion? Either they r total mornon or they plalnned it so not to have to give away millions of cans of thier SUB PAR product. C O K E is the geniune USA thing and Dr Pepper is close to nothing.
I think I can speak on behalf on many GnR fans as well as other who don'y have a clue abpit them at all. It is NOT about the $1 can of soda.
What it was about was a company trying to cash in on the 'Chinese cd ' situation and then not producing what was promised.
I have never bought a can iin my life and have had thousands of cokes.
It is the POINT and this Texas based company with its sub par productis the p i t s !
