Report: China's Censors Cool On GUNS N' ROSES Democracy Album - Nov. 24, 2008
Agence France-Presse (AFP) reports that China's Internet censors appeared to be trying to block fans Monday from accessing web sites related to GUNS N' ROSES' first album in 17 years, which is provocatively titled "Chinese Democracy".

The album's official site, ChineseDemocracy.com, was inaccessible in communist China and Internet portal Baidu.com blocked music-related searches for "Chinese Democracy".

...the album has no political content at all, as far as I can tell. Sure, the title track and "Madagascar" use the usual pseudo-intellectual trick of seeming to be about some kind of big issues, while really just being a lot of confused and gutless musings. But, nothing that would threaten the Chinese government.

Meanwhile, friggin' DOA is touring China! And, Chinese rocker Cui Jian continues to make music with far more real social commentary than Axl will ever dare to use.

I remember reading a couple years ago about Axl living in China for a while. He was asked why and he said, because when the record comes out he wouldn't be allowed back.

What a misleading article title. If China were "cool" with the album name, it would mean they have no problem with it. Clearly they do.

I wonder if the other Chinese Democracy album by some other band, released a month ago, is censored. LOL
