THE RUNAWAYS Biopic To Go Into Production In Early 2009 - Dec. 3, 2008

Reuters/Hollywood Reporter reports that Kristen Stewart ("Twilight") is set to portray Joan Jett in "The Runaways", the rock 'n' roll biopic of the 1970s all-girl band.

The film will revolve around guitarist Jett and singer-keyboardist Cherie Currie and follow them from the band's meteoric rise as teenagers to their dissolution and disillusionment.

Video director Floria Sigismondi wrote the screenplay and is directing. Jett will serve as an executive producer.

The filmmakers are eyeing a 2009 start.

	Could be very interesting if they do it right. (But what about Lita Ford?) I saw Joan Jett open for Cheap Trick earlier this year. The looked and sounded amazing! Her band was very tight. Great to see her still out there showing how it's done.

	One of the best female bands ever. I also saw Joan Jett open for Cheap Trick this year. Joan sounded really great and so did her band too.

	There is quite the rift between Miss Jett and Lita. If you want Lita's "side", be sure to watch "Edgeplay: A Film About the Runaways ".

	There's a really good documentary about the Runaways that has some really jaw-dropping stuff that is almost unbelievable. Like, the stuff they were exposed to as teenage girls was just totally over-the-top. Some of the stuff -- and it's really explicit -- I'm guessing they won't put in the movie. Cuz people would think they're making it up. Joan Jett and Lita Ford in one band, wow. Which I know already, but it's still pretty amazing.

	I know she wasn't an original member, and she went on to play bass for The Bangles (my guilty pleasure, sue me), but I've always had the major hots for her. If they're going to feature her, they should get the redhead from "Superbad". Someone young, blond, hot yet tough needs to play Lita. She's a badass!
