NIFELHEIM Bassist Disrespects DIMEBAG, CLIFF BURTON

The latest issue of Sweden Rock magazine features an interview with the Swedish black metal band NIFELHEIM conducted in late September during the group's Finnish tour with WATAIN. " MÖTLEY CRÜE and MUNICIPAL WASTE are likely the worst bands in the world. Next to METALLICA," the group's bassist Tyrant (real name: Erik Gustavsson) is quoted as saying in the article. When reminded that the day before marked the 22nd anniversary of the passing of METALLICA bassist Cliff Burton, Tyrant says, "That's right. I laughed and pissed on a photo of him. Speaking of which, when did that Dimebag Darrell [late PANTERA/ DAMAGEPLAN guitarist] die? Damn how I cheered! Fucking glamf*g. One - nil to NIFELHEIM. Too bad Phil Anselmo [ PANTERA singer] didn't die too; that was probably the only time I wished PANTERA had actually played." Video footage of NIFELHEIM performing at the Metaltown festival on June 27, 2008 in Gothenburg, Sweden can be viewed below. NIFELHEIM released its latest album, "Envoy of Lucifer", on November 19, 2007 via Regain Records. NIFELHEIM in 2006 released a split EP with VULCANO via I Hate Records. NIFELHEIM's songs "Sepulcral Fornication" and "Raging Flames" were recorded at a Swedish studio in May 2006 and were described by NIFELHEIM guitarist Vengeance From Beyond (a.k.a. Sebastian Ramstedt; also in NECROPHOBIC) as "a total attack of satanic black metal." He added that "this split [is] the true synergy of evil." NIFELHEIM's current lineup features former ENTOMBED drummer Peter Stjärnvind, who left the long-running Swedish metallers in order to concentrate on his membership in NIFELHEIM. NIFELHEIM last year completed a Scandinavian tour as the support act for British black metal pioneers VENOM.

Cliff Burton and dimebag darrell were amazing musicians and will always be rembered for their contribution to music. After reading these comments i decided to listen to what this band sounded like which drove me to the following conclusion
Not only does the band have no music talent what so ever thier stage get up looks shite the song has no structure theres absolutly nothing to like about it. Ive heard better music coming from good charlotte.

2) Tyrant disliking Cliff and Dimebag is entirely consistent with how NIFELHEIM always have presented themselves in interviews. They know their metal and is selective about it. Since when did the scene get so politically correct?
3) If Dimebag would have said the same thing about - say - a member of PRETTY BOY FLOYD, nobody would have objected. To paraphrase Zappa: It's only words. Harsh and offensive words, but still...words.
4) The Blabbermouth translation doesn't include the fact that Tyrant's brother says that he bought a cake to celebrate Cliff's death.

Apparently I don't know metal because i, like most, have never heard of these guys. I do know this much about them, I looked them up and saw pictures of guys in their 40s and heard some terrible stuff. I listen to black metal, but damn, this is bad.

You know that this guy can't be serious. For one, their band is one of the worst death metal bands that I've heard in a long time, with no type of musical direction. All of the notes that they choose to play, just flat out suck. I've heard 15 year old kids shred harder than these guys, and these motherfuckers are all old and balding, so they had plenty of time to learn how to play music. Not to mention they look straight corny in their Venom worshipping clothing. These guys are completely fake. These dudes need to just give up, and their fans obviously don't care or know what music is even suppose to sound like. I read this, and wondered aloud, for minutes. I tried to enter the mind of Tyrant and understand the individual within Nifelheim's bassist. Alas, I couldn't figure out why he would say such mean things about other people. Then I watched the video and it hit me.
If I were a balding, out of shape, leather-wearing Swede, I'd be pretty pissed too. You see, he's not jealous of their talent (or lack of). He's just pissed about having to share the stage with other balding, out of shape , leather-wearing IT technicians that make Richard Simmons look straight.
Infact, just watch the video. Now take away the leather and give them short shorts and curly hair. They would be like goth Richard Simmons, only Richard Simmons is in shape.
Besides, Nifelheim sucks. Gore metal is where it's at......Oh well, It's kind of hard to make an impact when Gaahl's designing your customes.

Technique is merely a tool, not a goal.
Dream Theater are very technical, but can't write a good song to save their lives.
Dimebag was a great composer and he wouldn't just shred for the sake of it: THANKFULLY.
Some of his solos, like the "Floods" one are incredibly taste and played with great feeling, amazing stuff.
This is all a matter of opinion of course, but if you're obsessed with how technical a musician is, then you fail at music.

Actually, yeah. I was a huge fan of both Dime and Cliff. I learned divebombing watching Dime do it and all that shit. When he died I thought it was really sad.
But then again I was sad as well when Cronos (Venom), Rob Lumbre (Severed Savior), Chuck...and others died as well.
I thought it was even weird when Dead of Mayhem killed himself, and how serious people take the death of someone. Dime was an awesome person as far as I know, but so were a lot of other late musicians.
If you don't like hearing about Dime, well, better stay off blabbermouth the coming week. It will be his anniversary!

This is NOT about whether you like Pantera or Metallica. I couldn’t care less if you like them or hate their music. To each their own.
