ZAKK WYLDE Talks About Songwriting Process For Forthcoming OZZY OSBOURNE Album; Audio Available - Dec. 8, 2008
A 15-minute audio interview with vocalist Zakk Wylde of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and OZZY OSBOURNE conducted by Norway's Metal Express Radio on November 26 in Oslo has been posted online at this location.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY will embark on the "Black Label Bash" headlining tour in March. This trek, which will feature support from SEVENDUST, will be the band's first in North America since the fall of 2007.

According to BLACK LABEL SOCIETY guitarist/vocalist Zakk Wylde, the current trek through Europe has been a huge success — and with the release of a greatest-hits package in the spring, "the time felt good to get back on the bus with the guys back home."

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY announced in June 2007 that it had parted ways with Roadrunner Records.

The group's sole release through Roadrunner was 2006's "Shot to Hell" album.

"Shot to Hell" sold just under 32,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release — less than the 45,000 copies shifted by BLS's "Mafia" (Artemis) back in March 2005 — to land at position No. 21 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Fan-filmed video footage of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's December 6, 2008 concert at the Hard Rock Hell II festival in Prestatyn Sands, North Wales, U.K. can be viewed below.

But I really could do without the gorilla chest beating and stuff...I dont know why he does that, anyway apart from that, yeah he's pretty cool.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings to see a turn towards Pride & Glory.

This time we decided to go with the formula, chug chug chug + false harmonic squeal = the song.

Hope the next Oz album is better than the last. That "I Don't Wanna Stop"song was just plain awful. I'm a big Ozzy fan, but man, that guy has'nt put out an end-to-end solid recording in many years.

I agree, another Pride and Glory album would be excellent.

Let me preface my statement by saying that Zakk Wylde is truly one of the nastiest metal guitarists to grace the planet. I wouldn't be surprised if Zakk got hit in the head onstage and we all found out he was really a robot programmed with sick guitar skills. With that said, I kinda feel like Zakk has turned into exactly that...a robot.

That's totally how I feel. Every solo is impeccable, each note perfect and shredworthy, but its like...pentatonic minor, weird diminished run, squeal, squeal, ab ab select start, now you have 40 lives. I mean, when was the last time Zakk actually wrote some unbelievable tunes? Not Doomsday Jesus, but a Mama, I'm Coming Home or a Perry Mason? The guy is capable of genius but he seems to hide behind the fact that he's an amazing player/performer and is willing to forgo his true songwriting skills for guitar trickery. I'd like to see Zakk get back in front of a piano and write some masterpieces and make another No More Tears. If you want to say I'm living in 1991 feel free, that's when Zakk was making the tunes to remember.

BLS is good for Zakk, since it's an outlet, but he sounds drunk and repeats himself as if he's out of it and hasn't matured on a personal level. His guitar playing is oversimplified and formulaic. He sounded different on No Rest For the Wicked since he was copying his idols and playing fast scales. Now he's doing his "thing", which remains undefined and bland. I hope he wakes up and does something about it. Less drinking and more playing/writing Zakk!

Really - I love Ozzy and will always love his Black Sabbath and solo stuff up until 2000. But 'Down To Earth' was horrible and the last one (don't even remember the name) was worse. The man can't sing or write anymore.

Ozzy - you may not want to stop, but you HAVE TO!!! It's AWFUL!
