MEGADETH Drummer Shoots Down GIGANTOUR Rumors - Dec. 15, 2008
MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has shot down rumors that AVENGED SEVENFOLD and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE are in talks to take part in next year's North American Gigantour — the acclaimed traveling heavy music festival launched by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine.

Posting in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site in a thread where fans were discussing the above-mentioned rumor, Drover simply wrote "No" in response to the online chatter.

No official announcement has yet been made regarding the lineup of the fourth edition of Gigantour, which will once again feature MEGADETH in the headlining slot.

Conceived in 2005, Gigantour — proclaimed "the mother of all shred fests" by Revolver magazine — resurrects metal's focus on stellar musicianship.

The third installment of the North American Gigantour officially launched on April 12, 2008 in Denver, Colorado with headliner MEGADETH, Swedish metal band IN FLAMES, Finland's CHILDREN OF BODOM, Arizona's modern extreme act JOB FOR A COWBOY and Oakland, California heavy power trio HIGH ON FIRE. The 29-date trek criss-crossed North America and wrapped May 22 in Phoenix, Arizona.

The "Gigantour 2" DVD and CD, which contains footage from the second coming of Gigantour, arrived on April 22 via Image Entertainment.

"Gigantour 2" features over an hour of blistering performances by iconic and influential heavy metal pioneers MEGADETH — who have sold more than 20 million albums worldwide in a career now spanning 25 years — along with LAMB OF GOD, OPETH, ARCH ENEMY, OVERKILL, THE SMASHUP, and INTO ETERNITY. Recorded in DTS 5.1 surround sound, the DVD version also features a behind-the-scenes look at the 2006 tour, while both the DVD and CD offer a hidden bonus track — MEGADETH's ever-relevant "Peace Sells".

The "Gigantour 2" DVD and CD follow Image Entertainment's fall 2006 release of the debut "Gigantour" CD and DVD which featured unforgettable performances by MEGADETH, DREAM THEATER, FEAR FACTORY, ANTHRAX (CD only), NEVERMORE, LIFE OF AGONY, SYMPHONY X, DRY KILL LOGIC and BOBAFLEX.

OH THANK FUCKING GOD.

Gigantour is one of the only summer concerts I can count on to deliver year in and year out (well so far). I would truly hope Dave would not stoop to that level. to what? sell tickets to 13 year old girls.

I like to see Kreator or Enslaved or Suidakra or Arsis or Kalmah or ahhh, just anyone besides those 2 poser emo hard rock bands.

It's a shame they won't be able to put anything that comes close to the original lineup.

He didn't really shoot them down, he just said a vague "no"

I want to see Exodus this year and maybe Evile, that would be cool. Oh, and Candlemass too

If A7X played on this tour they would be headlining it. Megadeth aren't selling that many records anymore.

How about inviting Korpiklaani? I don't think they ever toured USA. Or how about Testament or Evil Army or Rigor Mortis or Carnivore, at least one good old school thrashers? If not, how about Carcass, Behemoth, Corrosion of Conformity, Zimmers Hole, God Forbid, Soilent Green... I don't agree with every band Dave invites, but this 'tour fest' is really something to look forward to than ozzfest and other stuff.

Great choice on High on Fire last year btw! Kudos to keeping the lineup interesting and colorful

This rumor was probably started by paid uncovers working for Metallica. They know that Megadeth's new one is likely to blow away DM so they covertly try to derail the tour.

Don't see A7x since they will probably be heading back to the studio. Gigantour never appealed to me anyway, so I haven't been bummed about the lack of Charlotte dates. Let me see, Megadeth plus a bunch of bands that only appeal to a bunch of antisocial teenagers who can't get laid. News flash, A7x is a pretty good live band.

Anyway, I'm still holding out hope that Dave can become a little less of a bitch, call up Lars and beg him to let Megadeth open for Metallica on the next leg of the US tour. I would pay a 100 bucks a seat to see that!

Before you kids continue to ass all over a7x because they have the 13 year girl fanbase, I want to point something out to you. Do you realize how much pussy my buddies and I got at Duran Duran shows back in the 80's? Dudes, you go to these shows that are full of horny teenage girls that are all wet for M Shadows and you might get some play, assuming you are still a teenager. Man, you kids have a lot to learn. Listen to the heavy shit at home, but with ticket prices what they are, save your dollars for the shows that girls go to!

bullet for my valentine are really awesome live, i saw them sur summer and thats rock, and i was surprised, there is no only emo and teen girls groupie, there was a really crazy show .
You guys said they suck, but you maybe listen only one or two of their songs, and i don't think you see them live to judge by yourself, stop to bitchng them only because it's "cool" and you looks more a "true" metalhead or somethink like that, you comment are really ridiculous.

Evile be part of next Years N.A. GIGANTOUR , unlikely as they toured the UK with Dave in Gigantour last year.
I was pissed, saw it, Meg's was great not a huge Bodum fan (although they were decent) would have LOVED to see Evile!!!!!!
Iced Earth and Evile would be SENSATIONAL!

Holy crap. That scared me hearing about the rumors. Glad they're not true! The tour has had a few week acts (Lamb of God, Static X, etc.), but dangit. If they got those two, it'd be lame. He's gone through prog, death metal, and grind, so I'm hoping he either goes for some thrash or black metal this year. I'm doubting the black metal unless he brings alng Immortal or someone, but some thrash from Testament and Tourniquet. Meshuga would be nice too.
