TANK: New Lineup Announced - Dec. 17, 2008
The legendary British power metal mercenaries TANK have re-grouped and are ready for battle once more. The release of the "Dogs of War" boxed set last year on Metal Mind Productions was a great success, which led to the inevitable re-release of the entire back catalog. This has proven very popular with the band's die-hard fans and helped to amass a new army of young devotees worldwide. TANK is very much in demand on the live front after being absent from the touring circuit for several years. With an unmistakable attitude and energy to its trademark sound, TANK now has a new all-star line-up fully equipped to crush everything in its path. Joining Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans on guitar will be original TANK drummer Mark Brabbs alongside two new recruits — ex-RAINBOW/YNGWIE MALMSTEEN frontman Doogie White and ex-BRUCE DICKINSON bassist Chris Dale. Unfortunately, original TANK vocalist/bassist Algy Ward has decided to retire from active service and will concentrate his efforts on writing his autobiography.

One of the most influential formations which emerged in the beginnings of the NWOBHM madness was TANK — a fierce, ambitious young band, taking all that was the best in punk and metal to a higher level. The group was formed in Croydon (London, England) in 1980 by Alasdair "Algy" Mackie Ward, an experienced front man who wanted to go beyond his previous musical experiences, which included playing in THE SAINTS and THE DAMNED.

Metal Mind Productions released the complete discography of TANK: "The Filth Hounds of Hades - Dogs of War 1981 - 2002" in November 2007. The collection, containing TANK's full discography extended with exclusive bonus material, is available in two editions: as a nine-CD box (8CD+DVD) and a six-LP box.

That's like replacing Lemmy with Joe Lynn Turner. Doogie is a terrible choice for this band.

well well... seems Doogie's teaming up with old friends, Mick Tucker is also collaborating on his solo album and he knows Chris Dale from Sack Trick, Cliff Evans from tribute cds ;-)

I'm a big fan of TANK since 1982 and see absolutely no point in this line-up without Algy. He is the sound of the band. His raw specific voice is what made the songs 'war-like'.

The first 4 TANK albums were masterpieces. Still play them frequently, with This Means War being my favorite.

Having followed the artistry of Mick Tucker From Axis, white spirit and Tank I understand the die hard Tank fans being a little closed minded to this line up but believe me I have heard a couple of raw demo's and the future holds big things for this band both live and studio.

This is by no means Tank. As the above poster mentioned, the first four Tank LPs are awesome, and Tank's place in the history of cult metal is certainly secure. But Algy was the face and main focal point of the band: the only member to be in every incarnation. I think it's cool if Mick, Clive, and Mark Brabbs (wasn't expecting that) want to do a Tank-related project together, but calling it Tank just serves to cheapen the legacy and irritate longtime fans.
Doogie White is an excellent vocalist, far better than Algy in a technical sense, but he still doesn't belong fronting a band under that monicker. For whatever it's worth coming from one old timer diehard Tank fan, please consider calling this project something Tank-related like "Filth Hounds of Hades", or "Shellshock" instead.

What is with these "reactivated" NWOBHM bands? Diamond Head with just Brian Tatler, Tygers of Pan Tang with old geezer Robb Weir... and Tank without Algy!?!?!? That's insane! Even if Algy gave his permission. *I* didn't!!! This means war, lads...

No, no, no, no, no.

Tank without Algy is not Tank at all. Algy had a voice as unique as Lemmy's. Not that I'm bashing this "reunion", but much like Axl's new album, I think it's a mistake to call it buy the classic name.

HEAVY ARTILLERY!!!
