SLIPKNOT's 'All Hope Is Gone' Certified Gold In U.S. - Dec. 19, 2008
SLIPKNOT's latest album, "All Hope Is Gone", was officially certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on December 9, 2008 for shipments in excess of 500,000 copies. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the LP has shifted 592,000 units in the United States since its August 26 release.

"All Hope Is Gone" claimed the coveted No. 1 debut slot on Billboard's Top 200 chart, after an extraordinary SoundScan recount. The album was initially announced on September 3 as a No. 2 debut, a mere 13 units behind THE GAME's No. 1 debut, marking the closest margin in SoundScan history. The chart positions resulted from a reported 238,272 copies of "All Hope Is Gone" its first week in stores, while THE GAME's "LAX" reported 238,285. With such an unprecedented margin, Roadrunner Records and WEA requested an historic recount. SoundScan obliged and chart positions were reversed, with SLIPKNOT claiming No. 1 and a new margin of 1,134 albums.

"That was incredible," singer Corey Taylor told Scotland's The Daily Record about the chart-topping feat. "I still have moments where I ask myself if that really happened. "Obviously, when you get in a business like this, it's the goal to get to the top. But we had to call a recount for it because all the numbers weren't in and they originally had THE GAME at No. 1. But there was only a difference of 12 CDs. Our label, Roadrunner, called the recount and it turned out we were No. 1 by 1,200 CDs. We got the the top spot but we had to earn it. Unlike most people, we had to go through the crazy job of finding out if we were No. 1."

I know people love to hate them, but they at least introduce the Metal genre to a lot of people. With that being said, They really are great musicians. Lots of melody's and a fun CD to listen too. So even if you wanna knock it, go out and buy the album. It really is worth picking up.

But I really don't give a shit how many copies of whatever get sold. Or who's getting what inane, irrelevant award for their musical wankery.

I want to see things on what these artists think and feel, how they interpret their own music... what they're trying to say with it... THAT is what I want to read about. Fuck money... give me something important.

As it is I spend most of my time here reading other people's comments... whether I agree or not... at least they give me something to think about... even if it is just "wow that dude's an idiot." Oh...and for the record... Slipknot kick ass.

A pillow fight. Really. I am completely stunned by this complete and utterly trite video. Thematically its a slipknot version of the stone sour song looking at you through the glass. Wanted dead or alive had more subtext and at least it was in black and white (wink). Nevermind the ho hum song the chorus which belongs in a middle of the road stone sour song. I dunno. I am lost here. Frak Rick Rubin. Bring back Iowa please.

the album is really worth a listen. I always loved Slipknot, they're fuckin energic live.

Vo. 3 isn't as good as AHIG, and Iowa is still their best album to date IMO...

I still prefer Vol.3, as this one has a few songs that don't go anywhere, but it's still a really good album. I thought 'Dead Memories' was one of the weaker songs on the album and didn't fit, but saw them live last week and it fits right in among the old stuff cos the riff sounds so heavy live. 'Snuff' is probably the best acoustic song Corey Taylor has done as well.

This Cd was a complete peice of shit.
I was apalled on how horrible it was.

Been a knot fan since 99,and this was bar far a peice of turd and anybody nicly saying this was a good disc has to be Juggalos...who have the worst taste in music by far.

New Mudvayne blows away new Knot by far.
