METALLICA's JAMES HETFIELD And ROBERT TRUJILLO Talk 'Guitar Hero' - Dec. 22, 2008
The Pulse of Radio reports: METALLICA confirmed last week at its web site that the long-rumored Guitar Hero: Metallica will tentatively arrive in the first half of 2009. The group is only the second act to get its own version of Guitar Hero, following this year's AEROSMITH game. METALLICA frontman James Hetfield told The Pulse of Radio some of the reasons why his band has embraced the video game phenomenon. "A lot of kids that maybe wanted to play guitar, or even, especially adults that wanted to play guitar and never did, they're getting a chance to somewhat live a little bit of that in their living room or whatever it is," he said. "And it's a good way to get your music out there. With all the big record stores closing up, getting music to people, it's getting a little limiting. But there are many places, new places to explore, and one of them is Guitar Hero."

METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo told The Pulse of Radio about the extensive motion-capture process that the band has to go through in order to make them come to life in the game. "We're basically in wetsuits, and you've got all these little tassels, what would be like tassels on your body, that helps trigger the image in the computer," he said. "It's like a performance in a wetsuit, so you're very hot, you're up there, you're headbanging, you're under the lights, but it's a workout. You know, they usually want you to do a song, like, five times or more, so it's a lot of work."

The post at the METALLICA web site revealed that the new game "allows you to play as us in either single instrument or band career game modes in your choice of some famous settings or new venues with in-the-round staging."

The game will include 28 METALLICA songs, as well as tracks from ALICE IN CHAINS, FOO FIGHTERS, QUEEN, SLAYER and others.

According to gaming site 1UP.com, Guitar Hero: Metallica will include a new difficulty level for drummers, featuring double bass drum pedals, along with new METALLICA guitar tones.

None of this changes the fact that DM sounds fucking horrible. Epic fail on the production.

what rock have you been living under for the past 10 years? merch for ANY band costs that much anymore. hell,i bought an ISIS t-shirt when they were opening for Tool and i remember it being expensive. now quick show of hands, who here has heard of ISIS let alone actually listen to their music?

only places you can find decently priced merch is either on big festival tours where the bands are selling their own merch at a table somewhere (if you're lucky), or when you go see a local band and that local band is selling their t-shirts.

as for tickets, that's also something that's on the rise. i wanted to go see Nine Inch Nails this past summer. mind you, this is the same band that gave an entire album away FOR FREE. and it was about $60-65 dollars for nosebleed seats and that was BEFORE service charges. as someone stated, that's something the venue deals with, not the artist.

it's not "Corporate Metallica" or whatever the fuck you want to call them while you're pissing and moaning. EVERY FUCKING BAND IS DOING IT!

"Screw the haters that like to hate."

It goes both ways of course...

Screw the haters that like to hate the haters.

In other thoughts: Everyone KNOWS (even if some refuse to admit it) that Death Magnetic is compressed to the point of audio destruction IE: it's badly fucked up.

The good news is the MODERUS REMASTER II.

Look for it where thar be pirates.

No need to read further.. Although for someone who starts their post with "Who Cares" yours was the longest post so far. So who cares?? Apparently YOU do! How funny is that?!

Anyone know where the title of my comment came from??

is going to rock. I do agree with the comment about having Cliff and Jason on there, but they technically would only be able to get Jason as they would need to motion capture his movements to get it right! You see the problem there, but they should have at least done that. I also agree that they should have only had Metallica tracks on there. Another thing is that GH has the master tracks for DM so it should sound better on the game although I don't have a problem with CD and I don't see why people make a big deal out of it...Either its overproduced or underproduced, no one can get it right with you guys...I guarentee that you have records before pro tools that you love and I don't hear you bitchen about those...

From what I've heard, they don't have control over the venues nor the price of the tickets...the tours get setup through managers and promoters...they are just told they are playing here today...and there tomorrow...

AND ANOTHER THING, YOU FUCKS!

Death Magnetic sounds like utter crap...well, the retail version sure does - NOT the MODERUS REMASTERII, but the songs sure do come across really, really GOOD in Metallica's best setting: live.

If you have not seen them this go-round, be sure to check 'em out the next time they come by you - killer sound system and, the band is on fire, man - truly.

At this point I have this Death Magnetic related Christmas greeting to pass along:

So, lets see...

So as far as you Metal Mavens are concerned a band should be the following:

1. Broke - Man being poor, fucking awesome, shows you have character and a wallet that always maintains that shiny new smell.

2. Never be creative - Musicians don't do it for themselves......they do it for all you lil fattys. So if your in a Metal band, please don't think for yourself, just do what the fattys want.

3. Old people don't play Metal - Man, now here is a tough one. I figure with all of the high IQ's on this site one of you scholars has come up with a portable fountain of youth. Please bring that fine invention to the next Metallica show. K thanks.

4. Rockstars aren't human - As you all know, Diamond Dave ....Alien, Slash....Alien (and not the illegal kind), Lemmy...Alien...Wait, maybe just that gort....

I guess the point I am trying to make is that you should all just kill yourselves now, get that misery right out of ya.'

Now go fuck yourselves.
