RIOT's 'Thundersteel' Lineup To Tour Europe In June - Dec. 28, 2008
The 1988 "Thundersteel" lineup of RIOT has reformed and is planning on hitting the road in Europe in June 2009. A new studio album featuring the same musicians is also in the works.

As previously reported, RIOT has been confirmed for next year's Sweden Rock Festival, set to take place June 3-6, 2009 in Sölvesborg, Sweden.

RIOT 2009 lineup:

Mark Reale (Guitars)
Tony Moore (Vocals)
Don Van Stavern (Bass)
Bobby Jarzombek (Drums)
Mike Flyntz (Guitars)

RIOT's latest CD, "Army of One", was released in in Japan on July 17, 2006 via the Toshiba-EMI label. The CD came out in Europe in October 2006 via Metal Heaven.

RIOT's most recent touring lineup included singer Mike Tirelli (MESSIAH'S KISS, HOLY MOTHER, BURNING STARR), who replaced Mike DiMeo due to DiMeo's commitments with MASTERPLAN and THE LIZARDS (also featuring drummer Bobby Rondinelli of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT/BLACK SABBATH/RAINBOW fame).

Long live Riot, best american band. I wonder who is going to sing in the next record: Moore or Tirelli. I can´t believe they have been playing in front of 50 or 100 people. Keep it going Mark! And come to South America! Happy new year for everybody!

Fire Down Under - One of the top 20 greatest metal albums ever recorded... by anybody. I have the High Vaultage reissue with 5 bonus tracks and awesome liner notes.

Of course, Thundersteel and The Privilege Of Power don't suck either.

Seen 'em in 88 at Blondies in Detroit, They were killer.
These cats were always underrated. Hope Tony can still rip 'em like yesteryear. Thundersteel was out two years before Painkiller, I think Priest was influenced by this album.

awesome, but the kidz don't dig it... instead they'll take some half baked neo-metal stuff with boogey-man vocals.....and call it a masterpiece.....
oh the humanity !

So Mark Reale is the only original member left? I just haven't followed the doings of Riot for a while. Do hope they get around to America. Pretty sure I saw them in 82 or 83 and there were like 20 people there. It was great show but I couldn't believe there weren't that many there.

Thundersteel is such a great record. I was not a big fan of the followup, however. Too many horns and crap. Bloodstreets and Sign of the Crimson Storm are awesome tunes.

I gotta agree with rockin' Ray, The early stuff with Guy was just as good as any Priest ,Saxon ,Accept or Maiden and they were One of Americas own. It must of been poor management and or label because these guys had the chops and hooks.

They became a killer power metal band with Thundersteel

R..ip. Guy and Rhett

This is good news, even though Mike Tirelli was doing an excellent job on tour and deserves to sing in the new record. Anyway, I don´t think Tony will be able to hit the high notes of Thundersteel, Dance of death, On your knees, etc. On the other hand, why is that everybody forgets Rhett`s era. Restless Breed and Born in America were awesome. I cannot believe Mark has kept Di Meo (worst lead singer Riot has ever had) so long in the band. Happy new year for everybody!

One of the most underrated bands of all time. Um, actually the MOST underrated band of all time.

Im hoping they tour the states.

Prog Power 2010? Riot, X-Japan, included?

That would be awesome.
