KERRY KING: How I Am Going To Spend This Holiday Season

According to U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine, SLAYER guitarist Kerry King spent Christmas by watching sports and drinking tequila.
"My wife and I don't believe in Jesus so we're sure as hell not going to be celebrating a fake birth," King told Kerrang! "If we want to get a gift for someone, then we'll do it because we want to."
"I'm gonna spend the holiday season watching American football and drinking," he added. "I live pretty close to Mexico so it's not too difficult to find a good bottle of tequila."
King, however, told Kerrang! that he may be dragged out to raise a glass as the clock turns twelve this New Year's Eve.
"I'm sure we'll be persuaded," he said. "But we'll probably stay at home until the amateurs pass out! Usually we prefer to light it up at our house with a bunch of friends. At least that way I don't get into trouble for fucking shit up. Until the wife notices the next morning, of course!"

So he already stopped calling Christmas "dead Jesus day"? The 'funniest' thing about this joke was that Jesus is dying on another holiday, mr. King.
Also, I love Slayer, especially now that they write stuff that sounds like Slayer again, but WTF? Who cares about stories like that? Let me explain by giving two simple examples:
"I got drunk on tour and fell off the stage" - a fine story to tell in an interview. Metal hell yeah!! and all that.
"I stayed at home and got drunk with my wife" - uhhh... just don't do intreviews when you only got shit like that to tell. Please, just don't.

Personally, I like it when musicians tell these types of stories...probably because a lot of us older fans are also married and have families....
I get tired of Metal musicians doing interviews and pretending to be something they're not---evil badasses reeking havoc on tour...when you're 44!!

Well I see your point of view and I admit I didn't think of it before. It's just that I get tired of musicians that like to talk about everything except anything related to music. Especially those that are so anti-religious that all they can talk about is religion. Why ask Kerry about Christmas? It's obvious, he'll just tell that he doesn't believe in God. Again. Please, WE KNOW ALREADY.

Read a book called "evidence that demands a verdict" by Josh McDowell, if you care. Just like rah said, A man named Jesus did walk this earth, was crucified for claiming to be the son of God and his body was never recovered. There are facts for all of this. Now to Mr. King. As much as he claims to follow his own path, yeah, he is just another wanna be badass who speaks before he thinks. If it were up to him, he would have all evidence point to him as being god. He is a self-important jackass who writes good riffs but has THE worst guitar solos EVER. Hanneman has and always will be better. I would rather listen to a C.C. Deville solo than one of his tin can sounding, lets see if I can play faster than Malmsteen without the solo being relavent to what is going on in the song drabs. Hell, I bet Araya could solo better than him. What a dueche, Slayer is, by far, THE most overrated band in metal. Pick up an Opeth cd. Wow, I really went on a rant there.

Perhaps a 44 year old may be much more of an 'real' evil badass than than some pissed off kid. Time tends to nurture us in years as opposed to moments in motion now. Experience cultivates reality as a lifestyle.

Yeah, 'rah' is right. There is not only scientific and historic evidence, but also other religions recognized that Jesus did walk this earth. Now whether you believe he is who he says he was is the debate. C'mon Kerry, you are not 22 anymore, you don't have to crowbar controversial statements into everything anymore.

Of all the things to obsessively hate, why attack Jesus and Christianity? If you ever actually read the Bible, it says again and again to try to love one another, forgive, help each other, not be self-centered, use self control and in general live a good life. Why does he hate that so much? After all, he's just an average guy who stays at home and celebrates the holidays with his wife. Lighten up, Kerry!

Is your issue really with Jesus, or the fundementalist retards that that do all manner of bullshit in his name? News flash: if you ever took the time to find out what the man was about, you may not say some of those things.
1. Jesus did live. Whether or not you believe anything mystical, there is enough historical evidence to say that the dude walked the Earth. But as for the fake birth thing? There is also enough historical evidence to prove that Jesus wasn't born on 12/25. The date was actually set hundreds of years later by the Holy Roman Empire in order to coincide with the pagan winter solstice. Fake birth? No. Fake birthday? Yes.
2. By all accounts Jesus was the coolest mf who ever walked the Earth. Whoever made the Jesus Manson comparison has some serious issues. Again, you may not believe that he physically walked on water or literally did any of the miracles that are attributed to him, and he may not have. 2,000 years of stories passed down have a tendancy to get exaggerated, especially with the level of science at the time. But those stories began somewhere, and he obviously wasn't an asshole. Kind of makes you wonder what they'll say about John Lennon in 2,000 years.

For all you non-believer morons that say Jesus never existed, I have verifiable scientific proof: Go down to the taco truck on 22nd and International in East Oakland and ask for Jesus. He makes the best burrito in the Bay Area. I don't know when his b-day is, but if I did, I would definitely celebrate it. By the looks of Kerry King's belly, I think he's met Jesus a few too many times before Raiders games.

for someone who writes music for albums like "god hates us all" and "christ illusion", he certainly has no grasp of history or the evolution of christianity.
I've seen slayer 15 times since the reign in blood tour and although they are my favorite live band, king's constant opinions have brought a lot of negative attention to them and given embarrassing insight into his lazy songwriting. he seems more interested in interviews, apparel and his own celebrity than writing good songs. very disappointing.

The calendar year is based on Christianity, too. Why do you think we are going into the year 2009? Recorded history goes back a lot further than 2,009 years. There's a reason people used to say 'the year of our Lord, (year).' Christianity is so intertwined with Western Civilization it's like cultural DNA. Love it or hate it, it's a fact.
