Updated: GUNS N' ROSES Denies Video Release Is Being Held Up By LARS ULRICH

GUNS N' ROSES has denied that the release of the band's new video for the song "Better" is being held up by a legal matter involving METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich. A December 29, 2008 online posting by Fernando Lebeis, who is a known associate of GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose, implied that Ulrich's image was featured in the clip and his release form needed to be signed before the video could be distributed and promoted to music video television programmers worldwide. Responding to questions on the GUNS N' ROSES fan board MyGNRForum.com regarding the delay in the release of the "Better" clip, Fernando Lebeis wrote, "Tell Lars to OK the vid and it's done. That's all that is pending." When asked by a fan who the " Lars" was that he was referring to, Fernando replied, " Lars Ulrich. We are pending his release form to be signed." After this story was originally published, Fernando Lebeis contacted BLABBERMOUTH.NET to say that his posting (which has since been edited/removed) on MyGNRForum.com "was a fun comment and not an attack on Lars." He also included the following official statement from GUNS N' ROSES regarding the matter: " Lars isn't holding anything up with our video. Our message board comments were meant casually, in fun and amongst friends. Unfortunately, someone with Blabbermouth may have taken things a bit out of context and made them into a bit more than they are in reality. "Our apologies to anyone who may have been confused. "We hope to have our video out shortly. "Thank you." Ulrich was reportedly seen backstage at a number of GUNS N' ROSES shows on the band's 2006 tour and even performed the song "Out Ta Get Me" with GN'R on December 15, 2006 during Axl Rose and company's headlining appearance at the Oracle Arena (formerly Oakland Arena) in Oakland, California. "Better" is the second single from GUNS N' ROSES' new album, "Chinese Democracy", which sold 56,000 copies in the United States in its fourth week of release to land at position No. 33 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD has shifted 421,000 units since it was released on November 23 as a Best Buy exclusive after a wait of more than 15 years.

Seems to me if it really was an issue, they would edit or blurr him. I will give them permission to superimpose my image on anybody they want, LOL
On a serious note, I got my Dr. Pepper and drank it slow while listening to Chinese Democracy. I think there are more flavors in the music than in the soda...........but the combination was a true masterpiece...of sorts.

Sales might not be indicative of the quality of the album, but it certainly is a barometer of fan interest, which there is little beyond the hardcore Axl fans. A video will help a bit, but when's the last time you've seen a video? They get played when, where? At 2am. A tour? It will let people know they are out there. I think the Axl StarTreky's think there is a great buzz for this album, but there really isn't. Fans of the band originally know its not the band, so aren't going to buy it on the merits of it being GnR, cuz it aint. Doesn't mean the album isn't good, but Axl now needs to get people on board with a killer CD, or at least a great rock radio single....Most music publications are writing this up as a commercial failure & a release that is fizzling, garnering little fanfare or interest....ask around yourself. Ask a huge music fan that "likes" GnR, they just don't care & aren't being exposed to this release either, Good or Bad.

A singer that has pushed away every band mate he's had, including his newer ones, the singer that believes he can remember his time spent in the womb, the guy that is never wrong, always blaming the guy next to him, yet there is a line of people who refute what he says. Including his Izzy, and his GnR bandmate Traciii Guns who claims Axl is lying on how they got the name...what would Axl have to do to get some criticism from his adoring fans. Was dismantling a legendary band not enough? how about stopping EVERY show to yell at a fan. Wonder how so many other bands, players get by without doing that night & night out. Maybe making you wait for 17 years to release new material...but the fanboys didn't wait, they just got onboard with GnR in 2004 via the leaks, correct? or how about going to a show & have him make you wait for 3 hours, then leave cuz he's "not feeling it"...and the dipsh*t that says "stop whining cuz you have to wait, do you have to get home to mommy"...you like waiting in an arena, your buzz turning into tireness, waiting in your seat for 3 hrs AFTER the open band played(he claims there was no wait between bands), beer stands closed for hours, yeah, that's a blast. People just getting all aggitated, fights stirring for no reason other than boredom, great time that is! That's not in the name of Rock n Roll, as he claimed years ago, cuz the Stones had done it. This aint 1972, you can't even smoke a cigarette in arena's now, never mind a joint.....still, the hardcore Axl-ites won't stand up & question this guy at all....for the majority of GnR fans, he's making his last stand, & failing, there is no interest beyond his hardcore fan base. Not enough to make this album platinum & recoup production costs, not enough to have this tour sellout arena's 75% of the time. People are speaking, if Axl wants all the trimmings of stardom, he isn't going to get it with his solo venture. I won't even mention my opinion of the songs I've heard. Riads N' the Snowdog or whatever, utter fluff.

Also, I saw GNR on the last tour near the end of the cycle and it was almost completely sold out. It was a far superior show performance-wise than in '91-'93. A better band with very talented musicians...NOT A SOLO ALBUM/TOUR!!!

Its the most ridicules concept, taking a band & replacing them with hired "guns" who are technicians...how F'in boring. If you can't understand #1 that Slash's playing isn't about pissing out a thousand notes per second and these guys are learning his & Izzy's riffs, and again, you could replace all the great band's members with schooled musicians, but what do you have? Slash & Izzy wrote those guitar parts. What memorable guitar part or song has Bumblehead written? No diss on him, If I were him, I'd take the gig too, but this whole school of thought of replacing members with...stupid. GnR were HUGE based on the fact they were anti-Shred, rough & bluesy rock n roll. Go listen to Ynvwie if you want that shred shit....guess Slash should have been tossing a pink leopard print guitar behind his back & making goofy metal faces....better tour than 91-93? Your show may have been sold out, but they canceled in Maine because "LACK OF INTEREST", that's a smaller market, real america. Boston sold out, but outer regions did not....you want to tell me Bumblefoot is a better performer than Slash, playing SLASH"s RIFFs! Damn that's just f'in assinign! truly. So you'd take one man's word(Axl) over band, crew's, opening bands, Metallica, Faith No More, Blind Melon, who all said the same thing, Axl was a primadonna who wasn't a team player, thought of himself only, caused RIOTs for crying out loud, yet Slash is a liar. for my tastes in guitar playing, style of playing & just rockin', give me the 2 Snakepit albums over Chin. Dem every single day. They were recorded in probably a few weeks, they were what they were, rock n' roll, not a pro tool epic 14 year failure. They weren't designed to rule the world or to be commercially marketed. I'll take VRs first over Chin Dem.

no one can answer the limit they'd go with Axl till they finally question him? I've seen/read hundreds of interviews over the years w/Axl & the others, as we all have. Have read interviews with a list of people who all side against Axl, except Sebastian Bach of course...anyone with a backbone...and the comments "their performance on last tour was far superior than 1991-93." What are you looking for, to see if the guitarist played some egyptian scale better? Did you ever like GnR then, if you like watching/hearing Bumblefoot more? You're missing the point of GnR. They rocked, but they were also dangerous. The 1988 Ritz show, they play terrible, out of tune, drunk, but its one of the funnest shows you can see. It was like a punk show, on the brink of disaster....Diatribe & Falopia, do you watch this & wish Slash were standing still tapping on the neck & shredding. Yes, I can appreciate great musicianship too, but in GnR, there was a combination of great blues based playing, amazing showmanship(axl including til '89), and ballsiness that you will NEVER get with this current lineup of unknown, faceless, masked bucketed men...btw, Axl WAS damn cool to a point. By Illusions he bought his own press, thought he had to do wardrobe changes like Madonna & run, run, run, as opposed to just rockin'.

before joining gnr (the job of their lives) those people had SUB PAR carreers, so much that tommy stinson had also daily jobs after the replacements break up.
if they were so able to shine by themselves, why they weren't able to show talent and "stage presence" (laughable) before?
they were second rate members in their second rate bands before gnr.
they needed GNR big money machine to shine evidently. Only axl fucktards like yourself can see "stars" in nameless musicians who weren't even praised session men

the preference of Chin Dem to Slash's releases I'll give you, it is probably more diverse & its subjective, but honestly, you can say the playings better, but stage presense? Axl was better #1 in the old days. Maybe not singing, but stage presense. You really want to say any of these guys can hold a candle to Slash when it comes to stage presense. Slash in that category is one of the best Rock "performers" there are in the modern era, ever for that matter....playing, he was great too, for what he did. Even live. After 1988, he was rarely sloppy live. no, he can't play as precise as Buckethead, & maybe Buckethead plays the intro to Sweet Child effortlessly, but its not his. I don't want to see some technician play Slash's parts, if I want to see a Technician, I'll go to a Buckethead show. Not a GnR show, that's my whole point, they are Slash's guitar parts. Why did you like GnR to start then? Axl? His short shorts? come on. did you get into GnR via NIN & the GnR leaks. If so, then you are a new GnR fan, then fine, that's your band, but its not the GnR 95% of the fans want. As I've said too many times, if that's the case, why not have all the Bumblefoots/Buckethead of the world replace guys like Keith Richards, Joe Perry, Jimmy Page, cuz they play more precise. just faceless bands led by the known singer. how boring.

yes, Slash, Axl, everyone is unknown at some point, but they came up the ranks playing their own style, the music THEY wrote. Slash didn't get known by replacing Jimmy Page in Led Zeppelin, like a Bumblefoot....and again, I'm not knocking the guy, he seems cool...he's 39, struggling financially, and this is a nice gig. Anyone would do it, though even he said He had his doubts. But as a fan, you can say "great, they have a guy doing Slash's parts perfectly, & more effortlessly". How is this better? If he's better, I want to hear him playing his own music, or his own bands music. Or Finck. Finck had his day. He left too. That's a band? Parts & pieces that record a song, play a tour, leave, replaced, over & over...that's not a band, that's not GnR, that is completely a solo venture...and as stated before, doesn't make it a bad record(or good), but the fans are speaking...by not buying in to it. Maybe they will buy into Chin Dem & Axl if its good & can be heard by more than the huge Axl fans.

to me, this is complete watering down of a band. Its like Jimmy Page being fired from Led Zeppelin in 1977 & being replaced by a young Eddie Van Halen or Steve Vai....then saying "well Page is so sloppy, these guys are so much better players". Yes, Vai can play Page with 3 fingers, but who cares, he AINT Led Zep, go show what you got with YOUR songs, your band. I love EVH, but not in Led Zep, if I want to see these guys like Buckethead shred, I'll do so at the club they are playing. And Buckethead does a whole Zeppelin medley...gee wonder why? Cuz the SONG & RIFFS rock! THey might not be technically that hard for someone like Bucket, but like Slash's playing, its NOT the point. Weither Slash was forced out or fired, whatever...but to say "well its better now cuz they are better performing the songs" makes NO sense to me. Don't you want the guys that made you like the band to start be in that band? Let's get a guy on Youtube that can sing like Axl did in 1987 & he can REPLACE axl!! why not, right, he performs the songs better. Who needs the energy, the chemistry, the personalities? What was I thinking??? I am wrong again. And Chin Dem WILL sell 2 mil copies & catch fire after a video & tour cuz this "band" is so Magnetic, oozing of personality & performance art!

Buckethead has been fired from the "Buckethead Band" because they found someone that can play the songs better & faster. Fans of the band are quoting as saying "the performances are better than the bands in early 2008, they sounded better, had better stage presence, and it was all around a better live band. I'll take (add faceless guitarist name here) over Buckethead any day." everyone wins!

Reznor wrote all the guitar parts, no all the keyboards or bass or drums, he had actual session musicians to do that, except the weakest link: GUITAR.

Steven Tyler, having just heard Buckethead was available after being fired from his band, stole the name of the band from the other bandmembers & forced Perry to quit by overdubbing all Perry's guitar parts on "Toys in the Attic" with Buckethead. Tyler said "Perry's good, lots of attitude, but Buckethead plays his part effortlessly, and adds some tapping, harmonics & sweep picking on Dream On, its what I always invisioned when I wrote it. The solo was never fast enough for my liking"....while most of Aerosmith's fans are outraged, a select few still stand behind Tyler, stating "Perry's a liar! This is as much Guns 'N' Roses as L.A. Guns is or Slash's Snakepit or whatever Duff etc solo gigs are. Axl ONLY won the name, the right to call himself 'G'N'R'. UNLESS he brings back at least slash, this is simply an Axl solo album, PURE AND SIMPLE!
I really couldn't make it through the album, I tried listening to it straight through, got a few songs in and then decided to jump around. I'm not sure what he was aiming for, but this album is only being hyped because he fucked around with it for over a decade, not because it's any good since it really isn't... (good, that is)
