GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist Denies Saying Band Will Embark On Two-Year World Tour

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Richard Fortus has denied that he ever said the band will begin a world tour in March that will last for at least two years. Fortus' original comments about GN'R hitting the road supposedly came as part of an interview with TheTelegraph.com to promote his appearance in St. Louis on Monday night (December 29) with PALE DIVINE, a locally popular act, of which he was a founding member, that has not played together for 17 years. After the TheTelegraph.com article was published and Fortus' comments got picked up by a number of news outlets all around the world, the guitarist issued the following statement: "OK, it seems that I am being misquoted once again. I never said that GN'R would be playing St. Louis, nor did I say that we will be doing free shows or that we are starting a two-year tour in March! Selective hearing. Never said it." GUNS N' ROSES' new album, "Chinese Democracy", which came out as a Best Buy exclusive on November 23, currently sits at No. 33 on the Billboard album chart. The CD has moved 421,000 copies since its release, with the lukewarm response to the record leading many to label it a failure. they'd be lucky if they could pull off a two day tour without something getting fucked up, let alone a two year tour. still waiting for the makeup concert for milwaukee from a couple years back, but i'm not getting my hopes up, especially after hearing the new album.

I'D LOVE TO HEAR SONGS LIKE SCRAPED, BETTER & CATCHER IN THE RYE LIVE, AND NOW THAT THEY'VE PUT OUT THIS AMAZING NEW ALBUM OUT THEY NO LONGER HAVE TO RELY ON THE OLD SONGS.

someone's in deep crap w/Axl. this guy...GnR guitarist? One of a billion now. Like its so bad if he said this, even if it was speculation, its not like its the original band getting back together, how many people heard Fortis' big news? no one. Ohter than Axl-ites. It wasn't news when he said they were to tour, why retrack, like its the Pope. There is no anticipation for a tour beyond the guppies on Axl Island. This guy is sure to be fired for even speaking out of turn. As we speak he is in a chair, turned towards a wall, with dunce cap on, in Axl Time Out....GnR should get a Axl singer to replace him as well, so they can tour, make a record every few years & be productive. No one out here cares if Slash or Izzy/Duff are in the band, so why not replace the real problem child, pull the bad tooth, Axl

I have known Richard since his Pale Devine days. He is a super nice guy and a GREAT guitar player and deserves to be in GnR and he is NO HACK. He never talks shit or behind people's back and has a profound respect for Axl and the rest of the current lineup of GnR. To ridicule this guy like some of you have is absolutely dickheaded. He got a good paying gig and took it. I'm happy for him. Fuck the haters. Move on allready!

those nameless stupid "band members" think so highly of themselves that in order to push their otherwise nullified carreers they bring up the only thing that gets them press which is their spot in gnr.
it must suck being a nobody in what once was the biggest band in the world, but guess what geniuses, its because you nameless nobodies are in that band the reason why it's not the biggest band in the world anymore.
There is a song by manson called "the nobodies", that perfectly sums up the gnr hired hands nowadays.

richard doesn't "deserve" to be in GNR, the only 3 guitarist deserving to be in gnr are slash, izzy and gilby clarke if you want.

Almost all shows in the past, they show up 4 hours late. I would never give him my money again, even thought i like GNR, but the way they treat the fans, by making us wait, screw you. GNR and Prince can take there tours and throw them away. They think they are such rock stars they can play at any time they want. I live in a city where the power is cut at midnight, no matter what, and we miss over 1/2 even 3/4 show and we do not get our money back. Axel knows this when he arrives in this city, but it doesn't matter to him. This is the main reason i did not buy the new record. Why support Axel when he wont take care of his fans by showing up on time.

I gotta agree with As Usual, as usual, no one was "hating" on Richard to begin with, I for one was just sort of amused that he'd even have to release a statement saying "I didn't say we were touring", like it really matters in the grand scheme of the music scene if this guy, Richard Fortus' words were true or not. I'm sure he's a nice guy & great player, but as a fan of GnR, what does that matter? I'm a nice guy I think, maybe I should manage the band? No one wants to see my A$$ on stage with GnR, or any other unknown shredder, just cuz they are nice people or good players. Fire Axl then & get a nice guy that can sing....of course he took that paying gig, he was smart to. Again, as a fan of the band, who cares though. No one was dissing him before your post & OBVIOUSLY he caught flake for speaking out about the tour. He wasn't disrespecting Axl...well, maybe he was in Axl's paranoid mind....most people though just don't care about the next hired hand Axl employs though, no matter how nice & respectful they are. I'm sure I'd like Richard if we were to have a spot of tea together.

Great front man (in his day) but what I think most people are choked about is the how late he comes on. how late a record comes out and how many guitar players he neeeds to get his cut and paste sound.
I saw them a couple of years ago and he came on at 1:00 am. The PA was shit and people left by the thousands before halfway
