According to the
BBC News, former
LED ZEPPELIN singer
Robert Plant was among the 966 people granted civic honors yesterday (Tuesday, December 30) in the U.K.
The honors are bestowed in the name of
Queen Elizabeth II and are recommended by a panel that considers suggestions from government departments and political parties as well as from members of the public.
Plant was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire, or CBE, which is one rank below a knighthood.
The singer reunited with his former
LED ZEPPELIN bandmates for a one-off London show last year.
Plant also won a
Grammy in 2007 for his collaboration with American bluegrass singer
Alison Krauss.
