RHINO BUCKET Needs Your Help In 'Raising Dough' To Finish Album - Jan. 8, 2009
RHINO BUCKET — the Bon Scott-era AC/DC sound-alike band that recorded two albums for Warner Bros./EMI back in '90 and '92 and an independent album in '94 with former AC/DC drummer Simon Wright — started recording a new CD last April for what was to be a fall release. Well, fall fell and Christmas came and went and no BUCKET under the tree this year. So where's the record?

To make a long story short, after laying down 95 percent of the tracks, the hard drive went missing, leaving both Acetate Records and the BUCKET with a depleted recording budget and no record. According to the band, "Our label was relentless in their efforts to recover the recordings — that's the good news. Bad news is they ain't quite done yet, we still need some additional recording and mixing. See where we're heading?? Yup, you guessed it. We're broke and we're turning to you, The Bucketheads, The Bucket Brigade, Rhino Nation, to help us raise some dough and finish this bitch.

"We're asking that the most dedicated BUCKET fans purchase the new album in advance, which is what we like to do anyway, but this is a little earlier than usual. This will give us the funds to book the studio time needed to complete the project and believe us, you want us to finish this record! What's in it for you? Well, besides hookin' the boys up and being the first ones to get the spankin' new disc, we have written a song about our latest 'experience' and only those of you who pre-purchase will receive a special edition of the tentatively titled 'Hardest Town' containing this exclusive track.

"As is stands now, we're looking at a May 5 release, but that depends on you! Either way we'll ship out these special pre-sale CDs well in advance."

"So, dig deep boys and girls and let's keep the new rock rolling!"

RHINO BUCKET's current recording lineup:

Georg Dolivo - lead vocals/guitars
Brian "Damage" Forsythe (KIX) - lead guitars
Reeve Downes - bass
Simon Wright (DIO, AC/DC, UFO) – drums

this story is reading like a pay dispute between the producer and the band/label. Pretty childish to go about things.

I'd be more inclined to cough up $10 for their cause if they'd post a copy of a police report. Just so I can get some more details.

its one thing when the record is done and you want to sell a record pre-sale to whomever you want. but i have a huge problem with this on principal. you're gonna tell me the label won't front them money to finish their product? is it me, or if those masters belong to the label, and they hired the producer, shouldnt it be on them? i like rhinobucket and all, but come on. it sounds like they have been pressured or told by the label to ask their fans for money. doenst anyone else think this is lame on the label's part?

stay classy ACETATE records.

They should just go to Washington D.C. and ask Congress for a few billion dollars of the bail out money.

You mean to tell us that NO ONE in that band can put together the money on their own??? Brain for KIX, Simon Wright from AC/DC and Dio, CAN'T come up with the cash?

"Our label was relentless in their efforts to recover the recordings — that's the good news. Bad news is they ain't quite done yet, we still need some additional recording and mixing. See where we're heading?? Yup, you guessed it. We're broke and we're turning to you"

Seems you ran out of money BEFORE this shit went down. Good news...record label was relentless; Bad news, we still need additional blah blah blah.

This is probably THE worst shakedown I've seen EVER to fans. just be honest and say what it really is. I'll give my 10 bucks to an UNSIGNED band before i give it to a SIGNED band. FUCK THAT

For their newest cd (Sandwich), if you donated 50 bucks (or 250 for businesses) they'd say your name in an exclusive song (that's going to be a lot of names!) All the money went towards recording the cd, and you get a an auto'd copy.

Marillion has done this for 3 out of their last 4 studio discs. Asked fans in advance to pre-order the disc, on faith alone, and then they do as they damn well please in the studio, and the fan gets a really nice version of the finished disc. I ordered their latest Happiness is the Road over a year ago, and got a wonderful package in the mail 2 months ago.

That being said, this seems like different circumstances. I can't believe they didn't have a back-up for the record.

As for band members ponying up the cash... I doubt Simon Wright, as a lucky hired hand over the years, is a millionaire. Steve Forsythe... not a primary writer in Kix, and, though clean now, would be the first to tell you he probably blew what money he made on dope. He was a junkie. Check his MySpace page, dude has a regular job when not playing with RB or the annual Kix reunions...
