DEVILDRIVER Re-Signs With ROADRUNNER RECORDS - Jan. 8, 2009
Santa Barbara, California's DEVILDRIVER, the group fronted by former COAL CHAMBER singer Dez Fafara, has re-signed with Roadrunner Records after previously issuing three full-length albums through the label. In addition, the band has secured a new management company in the shape of Davis Entertainment Group.

DEVILDRIVER has commenced work on the follow-up to 2007's "The Last Kind Words", which has sold 70,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That CD shifted a little more than 14,000 copies during its first week of release to debut at No. 48 on The Billboard 200 chart. This figure represented around a 40 percent increase over the opening-week number of 2005's "The Fury of Our Maker's Hand", which premiered at No. 177 with sales of 10,400.

Fan-filmed video footage of DEVILDRIVER performing the song "Clouds Over California" on December 13, 2008 at Circo Volador in Mexico City, Mexico can be viewed below. Pat Lachman (DAMAGEPLAN, HALFORD) was filling in for bassist John Miller, who was undergoing eye surgery and was unable to make the gig.

DEVILDRIVER drummer John Boecklin sat out the band's appearance at the one-day Ozzfest in early August due to the fact that he was getting married the next day. Filling in for Boecklin at Ozzfest was DAATH's Kevin Talley, who has previously recorded and/or toured with DYING FETUS, CHIMAIRA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE RED CHORD, HATE ETERNAL, M.O.D., MISERY INDEX and SUFFOCATION.

This is kind of a head scratcher. Wouldn't playing Ozzfest make one hell of a bachelor party?

I don't know anyone that actually has bachelor parties the night before the wedding anymore. I've never been to one that's been closer than a week before. Second, Ozzfest was in Texas. I'm just assuming here, but seeing as they're a California band, the wedding was probably in California.

I'm really surprised they resigned or weren't dropped.

Devil Driver kicks ass and is even better live... anyone who thinks otherwise is just retarded and won't accept the fact that just because the singer was in Coal Chamber doesn't mean he can't be metal. Grow up.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not... but as far as I know Machine Head was actually the first band to do so...

My understanding of Roadrunner is... as long as your band sells... they'll be your best friends. So I would assume that on resigning with them... they're much more open to giving the band whatever they want.

70,000 is actually not a significant release for Roadrunner. I like Devil Driver and I'm not bashing them, just saying, esp in the past couple of years with Roadrunner, that's not really a smashing number.

i agree lostinfaith, they have gotten better with every release. love DD, got them as my ringtone...they kind of do their own thing, not quite death metal, not really thrash, just heavy fucking metal....awesome.

this kind of music really doesn't sell well, so their numbers are very solid. Only Metallica sells...not even the great slayer or lamb of god have great numbers.

im glad. Dez seems to get on well with Roadrunner. i hope this means a new album very soon. and i hope it means they get a good tour...

im tired of having to go to ozzfest to see a few good bands. DD should go out with 2-3 other good ones. haha.

Slayer and Lamb of God sell FAR more records than DD.
