Former KORN Guitarist Holding Open Auditions For Bandmembers
- Jan. 14, 2009
|
|
The Arizona Review reports that former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch has seemingly reconsidered holding closed-only band auditions; opting instead to allow anyone with talent the chance to audition for a spot in his band. For more information, go to www.brianheadwelchband.com. Welch's solo album, "Save Me From Myself", sold 7,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 63 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on September 9 through Driven Music Group (distribution by Ryko/ Warner Music Group), the label Welch co-founded with music execs Greg Shanaberger and Mark Nawara. "Save Me From Myself" was produced by Head, who recorded the music off and on for the past two years in Phoenix, Arizona. It features renowned musicians Tony Levin ( PETER GABRIEL, DAVID BOWIE) and Josh Freese ( A PERFECT CIRCLE, NINE INCH NAILS), and was mixed by Ralph Patlan and Bob Clearmountain. It's a testimony of Head's life as he battled with drug addiction and leaving KORN, and finding spirituality.

Is he serious or is he just trying to make money this way since nobody's buying his cd? How do you even know if he took the time to check you out? I say fuck it, you have a better chance starting your own band.

Almost forgot.
Anybody stupid enough to want to play with this religious piece of shit deserves much worse than just losing 25 bucks.

Man, these things called "drugs" sound pretty terrible. Good thing I only smoke weed.
But anyway, that song actually isn't bad. The chugging riffs and calm-then-angry vocals are kind of cliche, but structurally its fine. Better than Korn anyway. I was expecting it to be lame after he started talking to people in his head.

" reconsidered holding closed-only band auditions " ?
I think that translates into..
" No bands in the mainstream metal scene want to work with me due to the fact that I might be insane...so I'm forced to pick & choose from desperate myspace bands/musians
Brian "Head" Welch = Tom Cruise

Watched the video. The music is better than anything Korn has done in a long time. Lyrically... well... he's about as good as Davis. Meaning... both of them should really let someone else write their material.
I wouldn't audition for this guy... but I'd let him play in my band if he kept his mouth shut.

Actually, the application fee is just to help weed out the time wasters.... I've been to open auditions before where there were dudes showing up in person w/ a 1 string acoustic just to say they auditioned.....

Give me a break. This dude was so over years ago. Metal edge review was dead on. Take your cross and walk on home. Arizona review is created by a photofag who does it to get passes to shows. Anything crash music aka driven music is to take money. The label is broke. Head needs all the help he can get. Where else do you see a so called signed band on his own label increase their plays on myspace so they look good.
