16-year-old pop star Miley Cyrus has posted a new video for all her fans in which she claims that the fact that she was recently photographed wearing an IRON MAIDEN shirt ( Photo#1, Photo#2) does not mean that she is "a poser." She says in the clip, which can be seen below, "I'm sure you all have seen me rocking an IRON MAIDEN shirt lately and I know there's been some people saying, 'Oh, she's a poser,' and 'The only reason she's wearing IRON MAIDEN is because she wants to be a rock star.' . . . So, IRON MAIDEN — 'Run To The Hills', 'Fear of the Dark', 'Running Free', [all] good song(s), check it out. So thank you, guys. I actually do like IRON MAIDEN." Watch Miley's entire nine-minute message below. (The IRON MAIDEN bit begins around the 1:30 mark.) Cyrus is best known for starring as Miley Stewart/ Hannah Montana in the television series "Hannah Montana" on the Disney Channel. We are the metal fans. We love our music. If some pop stars dig what we like -- cool. Why bother bashing? Ciley will not become "METAL" just because we post. Let's just be glad that we know OUR music is reaching the masses.
BTW -- Ciley's music SUCKS. It's only good for my 5 year old niece, but my 5 year old nephew won't listen to that crap. He actually digs Zepplin. At least I know I did something right!

I have a 7 year old, a 5 Year old, and a 2 year old and they ALL love the whole Miley Cyrus / Hannah Montana thing...I play them bands like AC/DC, KISS, Van Halen, Maiden etc (and Lamb Of God when their mums not around) and they take it all in...but when the oldest one sees this Video hes gonna REALLY want to take an interest in Iron Maiden...so its GOOD!!!

I don't even question Miley's fandom of Iron Maiden. I doubt she's a metal authority and I agree she probably doesn't know anything beyond the greatest hits...which is a good thing if it means she's never had to suffer through Virtual IX or X Factor or one of Paul D'ianno's 9000 tributes to his era in Maiden...
Fact is, plenty of musicians get hooked up with lots of free CDs of random artists, and Maiden made such a career of catchy anthems that they influenced plenty of bands, good and bad. There's no reason to believe someone didn't hand her a CD or she went to a concert by way of industry connection and realized the same thing that the mainstream media is just now getting used to- that Maiden has written some good tunes.
Btw- I do think Miley's music blows hard, and find it annoyingly unlistenable. But I don't begrudge success. Nobody is forcing me to listen to Hannah Montana, after all...
(It would be pretty awesome if next week we found out that Miley also likes Impiety or Lividity...)

Her brother is in some rock band, if I recall. He very well may have introduced her to Maiden. Not only that, despite her dad being a "one-hit wonder," he is actively involved in the music industry. And it's not uncommon for those working in said industry to actually listen to a wide variety of music. You most likely won't see them listening to anything obscure or lesser known, but listening to prominent bands of the genre... happens a lot.

If this ditz is gonna take the time to post a video blog about it, then she could easily have Googled a list of Iron Maiden songs and listed the first 3 that she saw. For the last few years, it's been trendy for teenagers to wear t-shirts of bands that know absolutely nothing about (Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, The Doors). They aren't supporting the band, they're trying to fit in with this whole retro clothing fad. Miley is correct in saying that we don't know her...but based on her annoying personality, I'm rather thankful for that. Still, I highly doubt that she knows dick about Iron Maiden or any other respectable band.
