SLAYER To Announce New Co-Headlining Tour Next Week
- Jan. 22, 2009
|
|
According to the Artisan News Service, veteran Los Angeles thrashers SLAYER will announce a new co-headlining tour on Monday, January 26. The members of SLAYER spent a couple of weeks in a Southern California recording studio in October tracking three new songs, including "Psychopathy Red". The Jeff Hanneman-penned song gives a chilling look into the twisted mind of Andrei Chikatilo, a notorious Russian serial killer. "I've been making up riffs," SLAYER guitarist Kerry King told the Artisan News Service at this past weekend's NAMM ( National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which was held January 15-18 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. "I myself don't have any songs done but now that NAMM is over I can just sit in my room all week and finish them. I got a lot of great ideas, it's just not finished material." Multi-camera video footage of SLAYER performing the new song "Psychopathy Red" at the B1 Maximum club in Moscow, Russia on November 29, 2008 can be viewed below. Also included is backstage footage from the Moscow concert.

i dont like the idea of slayer co-headlining either... i heard when they "co-headlined" w/ manson, they actually opened up for manson... wtf is that? manson's good and all, but it aint slayer! i think it'd be bad ass (i know it's not gonna happen) if green jelly got back together and co-headlined w/ slayer... i'd shit my pants and throw them on the stage! otherwise, i'd like to see rob zombie or soulfly w/ them... or if you wanna go old-school, try METAL CHURCH! but seeing as how they're not touring w/ older bands, we gotta keep it real... maybe amon amarth or even DETHKLOK! lemme know if you think i'm full of shit or w/e cuz your opinion's so fuckin important to me lol

I don't think it will be Lamb Of God. They're headlining their own tour during April/May. Killswitch Engage are also touring with Disturbed around the same time. I would like it to be Mastodon but they're not really big enough to be a co-headliner.
I guess it could be Marilyn Manson even though they already toured together in 2007. While that tour did decent business, it wasn't a huge success by any means. But I guess the fact that Manson is working with Twiggy again might bring back fans who gave up on Manson after he left. Rob Zombie is a possibility too. He'll have a new album out this year and I'm sure he'll want to get onto a big tour to help promote it.
Can't really think of anyone else it could be.

Umm MaleBait, Annihilator are not the only band that have disposable members, most likely almost all the bands you like have one or two leaders and the rest hired. You just dont know it! Annihilator would be a sik support for Slayer in the USA even though they would headline overseas.

Attracting virtually no media attention at all he has released three new song titles and his close friend and set designer the magician Rudy Coby opened a dialogue with Manson's fans on Myspace. This is the relevant part:
Tuesday, January 13, 2009
Q: Will it be released sooner than "Eat Me, Drink Me" was in 2007?
A: I think earlier rather than later because there is a huge tour booked (already mentioned on other sites) so it has to come out before then.
It's already January so it will be in your hands fairly soon.
As far as I know the Mayhem Tour is just about the only rumored tour mentioned on "other sites".

They need to pick someone more boring than they are on stage. Don't get me wrong - I'm a fan. They sound great and play ferociously brutal most of the time I've seen them, but they are so boring to watch. Manson handed them their asses because he actually put on a show worth watching.
