Mayhem co-founder Kevin Lyman, the man behind the Vans Warped and Taste of Chaos tours, is quoted as saying, "I think people thought we would have a hard time coming up with a lineup that matched up with 2008. Well, I think we did."

The dates are as follows (all dates are subject to change):

MARILYN MANSON and SLAYER last joined forces in the summer of 2007 for a 25-city co-headline North American tour. The two bands each played full sets, with BLEEDING THROUGH opening all shows.

In an August 2007 interview with The Dallas Morning News, SLAYER guitarist Kerry King stated about the then-in-progress tour with MANSON, "I haven't seen any fistfights or anything yet. But there's a lot of gray area between our fans and Marilyn's. We both mine the same depths. But you can always pick out his fans — they're the freaky-dressed ones — and you can always tell who our fans are; they're the simply dressed ones."

He added, "There was this girl in the middle of the last show that had her fingers in her ears the whole time we were on. I [expletive] loved it!"

Last year's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour featured SLIPKNOT and DISTURBED on the main stage alongside DRAGONFORCE and MASTODON. In addition, the tour had two second stages: one sponsored by Jägermeister and featuring AIRBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and 36 CRAZYFISTS. An additional second stage featured MACHINE HEAD, BLACK TIDE, SUICIDE SILENCE, THE RED CHORD, and WALLS OF JERICHO.

Rockstar Energy Mayhem is produced by Warped founder Kevin Lyman, his partner on the Rockstar Taste Of Chaos tour John Reese, CAA's Darryl Eaton, and Jason Garner, Live Nation Chief Executive Officer of North American Music.

Maybe I'm old-school, but since when did blatant corporate whoring become an accepted part of the metal scene? What, Slayer can't tour without Monster Energy footing the bill? Cannibal Corpse can't find anywhere to play except the Hot Topic stage? I mean, really! Some of the bands on this tour are legends who can fill up decent sized rooms with no problems; why are they subjecting themselves to such crass commercialization?

I for one will not be supporting this tour.

There's just enough to get me interested in going and then they toss in Bullet for My Bleeding Anus, All That Remains and Trivium just to make sure I can't spend my hard earned dollars on a ticket.

Now to what I have to say, YES CC should be headlining over bands such as Whitechapel but the little scene bitches are more likely to see Whitechapel, who is a damn good band imo, before a legendary band like CC or Behemoth. BFMV should not be on the main stage, but they are pretty much guaranteed to sell tickets, but they are quite metal if you ask me. But I will probably wind up at the August 15th show in Houston because it is a good line up.. though not as good as last years.

thank you for seeing the distastefulness of this festival. I've been a rabid Slayer fan since I saw them on the SoH tour back in the day, CC is amazing live (so technically brutal, they defy logic), and I wouldn't mind seeing Behemoth again. I just know that when we show up to the venue, there'll more branding, advertising, and general whoring per square foot than at Ozzfest.

And the general Blabbermouth posters, this goes beyond whether your favorite band is on the bill or a band you hate is on the bill; this goes to the very heart of what it means to be metal. You can't be metal while pitching Dr. Scholls Odor Eaters (to reference Bloom County).

I really like Bullet for My Valentine though, and Trivium aint bad either. I am not a "kiidie". I am an old scholl metal fan who loves Maiden and Priest. But I get tired of people always dogging on Bullet. They are a great band. Both of their CDs kick ass. Truth be told, BFMV are the band that I will be going to see. In Houston!
