GORGOROTH Trial Kicks Off In Oslo

The two-day trial over the rights to the GORGOROTH band name involving vocalist Gaahl, bassist King ov Hell and the group's estranged guitarist Infernus began earlier today (Wednesday, January 28) in Oslo, Norway. Infernus (real name: Roger Tiegs) filed a lawsuit against King ov Hell (real name: Tom Cato Visnes) in September 2008 claiming that King (the sixth bass player in GORGOROTH's history) went behind his back in September 2007 and secretly applied for trademark protection of the GORGOROTH bandname and logo, which Infernus had been using since 1992. The verdict is expected sometime in February. In a brand new interview with Hungary's Fémforgács webzine (conducted last week), Infernus stated about the legal battle between him and his former bandmates, "I do not consider it as a war. It was basically King ov Hell who went behind my back and, in September 2007, secretly applied for a trademark ownership of the band name and logo at the Norwegian Industrial Property Office. Thereafter they have been commercially exploiting the name for whatever it was worth. Now I am suing him, and the vocalist as well. Whatever reasons they might have had to do what they did is to me of complete irrelevance. If they were not happy working together with me, they could have gone and started their own band, easy as that. . . I don't care what they have to say. They for sure have had their time in the media lately. And they will be having a chance to repeat that in court [this] week." Read the entire interview from Fémforgács.

If the court has any sense Infernus will win and those two idiots will get ridiculed publicly. If Infernus lose the case, then it will be another proof that this whole legal system is ready to screw you for as long as someone pays the bill.
Out of any legal issues, this was an aweful act of disrespect to the musician who helped those two to get recognition worldwide. Without Infernus and Gorgoroth no one would know about them.

Well, I'm not sure of your profession, but take any law class and you'll see that the courts occupy a make-believe world between fantasy and reality. Ask any one who has to pay out to someone who does something stupid and blames someone else (spilling hot coffee on themselves).
The one with the paper work and the signatures usually has the advantage. Ask Disney.

Infernus formed the band , it is HIS fuckin band!
IF the others did not like him, it is perfectly fine, they could have quit and formed another band. What they did is they STOLE the band name through deceit , meanwhile feeding sensationalism to many impressionable people. This guy wants his band name back his artistic identity HIS band name. So what Ghaal said .............. Its down to his lawyer to present the case correctly.
If he loses this case then his lawyer is worth squat .
Most legal documents can be challenged . Contracts , Inheritance wills , patents, trademarks all have to be executed with appropriate etiquette before they are worth the paper they are printed on . King ov Hell needs to prove that infernus gave him permission before it can be regarded as water tight. If not it can be challenged as a dishonest application .

I changed my mind after reading this interview with Infernus:

The guy just can't do anything, he can't record and at the same both gaahl and king have a million projects and are always on tour, millions of times more active than Infernus.
So now i understand their point and hope they win

I read that same interview, and maybe the guy "can't do anything", but there's absolutely nothing that I can detect in the interview to imply it... What, then, made Dkklfar change his/her mind?
On the issue "Gorgoroth vs. Gorgoroth", I'm gonna continue to support both factions. Just to piss everybody off. After all, BM is war music!
