ROBERT PLANT & ALISON KRAUSS To Perform At GRAMMY AWARDS
- Jan. 29, 2009
|
|
|
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss have been added to be the list of performers at the 51st annual Grammy Awards which will be held February 8 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Plant and Krauss told Billboard.com in June that they are hoping to turn their platinum-certified, Grammy Award-winning "Raising Sand" album into a going concern.
"I'm in no hurry to go anywhere," Plant told Billboard.com. "I want to stay very close. This is a font of knowledge, and I'm sticking as close to it as I can."
Krauss concurred: "We're all having a wonderful time, and I hope and I think all three of us are hoping to continue this and that it go on and on." But she added that the duo's association shouldn't bring the curtain down on any of their other projects.

Plant is smitten with this girl, otherwise he'd be all over hanging with the boys again & getting Zep going again. Do they hold hands on stage?

So what if Krauss is filling in for page and they got a couple of studio guys to play the bass and drums. I think Plant is staying out of the limelight with Zep to A) Not disgrace the name and B) He simply doesn't have the pipes anymore to sustain for a tour like what a proper Zep one would be like. I miss them together as much as the rest but its a pipe dream at best otherwise Page wouldn't be looking to fill his shoes with another singer.

Bslash24, too funny. Haha! But, Balls to the Walls make a great point too. Robert probably couldn't do a full blown tour and make all of his fans happy now. I am glad that I at least saw them on their "Walking to Clarksdale" tour.

Plant, in my opinion, is all done as far as Zep is concern, Kraus or no Kraus. I don't think the desire or the vocals are there anymore, & he says himself that they should let the legacy remain untarnished. There are very few artists, bands, that got out at the right time, never sold out. Zep is one of them. Not that I wouldn't have wanted output from them in the 80's but I think it would have started deteriating a bit. Its perfect right now. Never jumped the shark.

booch- he's not too bad live. i saw him a little while back, and he reminded me of how most classic rock artists that have been around that long sound. he has definitely lost some of his range, but that hasn't stopped many other artists from going out there and doing their old stuff. clearly he's moved on, and wants to do his own thing. too bad.
tin omen- i don't know if i'd say he's ashamed, but he most certainly doesn't seem to care one way or the other. he comes across as felling that he did his thing with zeppelin, and if other bands were influenced great, if not, oh well.

I agree totally. And Plant doesnt seem to want to sing hard rock anymore, not due to shame. He could pull it off & it's ok. He NO way sings like he did. Maybe can do somethings he did in 1979, later Zep, but the early stuff, he couldn't touch that by 1973. He stopped singing real high by 1973. It didn't suck, but he says "people expect me to do what I did when I was 20 & I just can't". I'm not knocking him, but you really have to give him concession if you are to say it meets standards. That London concert was tuned down, he sings in low register. again, he's not butching the notes, but he's not gonna sing like he did when he was young. A song like Kashmir he can pull off cuz he sang low on studio version...Zep was a balls to the wall band, playing in your face rock that except for their acoutic stuff, was a young man's rock. The definition of Cock Rock. Plant is telling you, he's too old for it. JPJ said Plant said that as well. he's 60. He's doing what Mick Jagger should have. Rod Stewart. (well, Stewart went to the big band music).
