CHILDREN OF BODOM Bassist Is 'Excited' About Touring With CANNIBAL CORPSE - Jan. 29, 2009
Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM will team up with Florida death metal legends CANNIBAL CORPSE for a European tour that is scheduled to kick off tomorrow night (Friday, January 30) in Berlin, Germany.

CHILDREN OF BODOM bassist Henkka Seppälä (a.k.a. Henkka T. Blacksmith) has posted the following update on his band's web site:

"The tour starts tomorrow. We will play Berlin first and then do some German dates before we start going south. Switzerland, Hungary, Austria, Italy...

"We are excited about playing with CANNIBAL CORPSE. 'Eaten Back to Life' was one the first metal albums I bought. It impressed me. I saw them live in Helsinki couple of years ago and it was great. It feels weird playing after this legendary act. I admit it. And I m sure many people think it's wrong. I do hope that CANNIBAL fans will show up anyway to see the shows.

"We haven't headlined Europe since 'Are You Dead Yet?' tour, and it's been too long. Usually we've played also Spain, and especially Barcelona has been always awesome for us. This tour won't go to Spain, and I think it's sad, but I do hope we get to play in Spain in summer later on!! So we will play many places in Europe, and then end this thing in Finland, first Helsinki and then Seinäjoki."

The U.S. branch of Spinefarm Records released the following CHILDREN OF BODOM titles on limited-edition picture disc vinyl on January 13:

* "Blooddrunk" (2008)
* "Tokyo Warhearts" (2006)
* "Are You Dead Yet?" (2005)
* "Follow the Reaper (2000)
* "Hatebreeder" (1999)
* "Something Wild" (1997)

Each title is individually numbered and is limited to 1,500 copies, making it an instant collector's item!

... sales dictate who goes on first, and who goes on last. And I bet any amount of cash, that CC has never sold as much as COB!

Still, you have to admit... this would be a cool tour to see.

yes cc have been arround longer than cob and have done more for the metal world than them but you guys have to face the fact that cob are more commercial and sell more records than cc which is why they are headlining. i personally would prefer it the other way round but that how the industry works. anyway both bands kick major ass!

If my band was touring with Corpse or some other legendary band, even if we sold more records (which we wouldn't) I'd say fuck no to headlining over someone the caliber of Corpse. I'd make them headline.

Oh come on you guys are full of it, CC records hardly sell at all, maybe a couple thousand copies last time I saw their sells, and whenever they do their own shows they are in tiny venues that only hold several hundred people. Children of Bodom are huge.

Who sells more than few thousand first week anyway? Unless you're Metallica or some hip hop crap.

I don't like Cannibal Corpse, but this is retarded. Cannibal Corpse have been around longer and have had a much larger influence on metal than CoB.

I understand how sales work, but I wonder if CoB's managers have heard of a Co-Headlining tour? Alternate time slots from night to night between the bands, call them both headliners.

Is because CoB is MUCH bigger than CC. The band that sells more tickets plays last.

I don't think the guys from CoB would even argue that CC should be headlining...

But the fact is that a CoB headline will sell more tickets. It's better for both bands.

Those who are wondering why CC is opening for Bodom, it's all about album sales people. Remember, ''Blooddrunk'' reacher #20 on Billboard. That's quite good for an extreme metal band

COB is touring with Lamb of God in North America later this year. I'm hoping to go see them, and I'm also hoping they are opening for Lamb of God so I can leave after they're done. There are some bands that I just can't stand, especially if they sound like my dog vomiting.

CoB peaked on their first few albums, then started going downhill fast.

CC is still putting out quality shit.

But yes, I guess the whole "sales" bullshit governs. Sacrifice a better show just to make more money??? It's sad.

I don't get why all of you are shitting on cob for this. The guy straight up just said that they SHOULDN'T be headlining this tour... in the position he's in, that takes some balls to say. But, it is NOT UP TO THEM.

"If my band was touring with Corpse or some other legendary band, even if we sold more records (which we wouldn't) I'd say fuck no to headlining over someone the caliber of Corpse. I'd make them headline."

They don't solely decide who they tour with or even where, it's their label. And guess what? Their label is a business, it needs money, and it's going to put the bands in the order that will make the most money for them... the same as every other show on the face of the earth, so why are you surprised now?

His level of respect for the band is admirable.

Why are COB one of the worst metal bands ever? Because they actually know how to play their instruments?

I'm not really a fan of the barely-understandable vocals, but the instrumental part makes up for it.

I Heard was the first single from Are You Dead Yet. It Sucked serious ass, some kinda Nu-Metal with Powermetal touches. Then a Buddy played their 1st three albums for me, Brilliant! Something Wild, Hate Breeder and Follow The Reaper(My fave of the three) were all good albums. So I agree COB have gone waaaayyy down hill since their 3rd album. I've never heard Hate Crew but I've been told that that is where they started altering their sound drastically, so I stayed away since I don't like their newer stuff. I guess COB headling does make more sense just to get the larger crowd out there but I'm afraid that Cannibal Corpse's music will murder all of the Mall-Core posers at the show before CoB even gets on stage.

dude.. I'm not a big fan o Cannibal.. but a big fan of COB... and this situation reminds me of the time when Annihilator opened for Trivium.. and seriously this bothers the shit out of everyone man.. Cannibal is a legend in their style of playing.. and I don't think that even and tour together would make sense.. since their style is WAY different..
