THE FUNERAL PYRE: New Song Posted Online - Jan. 31, 2009
Southern California black metal outfit THE FUNERAL PYRE has posted a new song, "To Walk, To Maintain", on the band's MySpace page. The track comes off the group's new EP, "December", which is scheduled for release on March 10 via Creator-Destructor Records.

THE FUNERAL PYRE's latest full-length album, "Wounds", was released in May 2008 through Prosthetic Records. Recorded in February and March 2008 with producer John Haddad (INTRONAUT, EYES OF FIRE, ABYSMAL DAWN), "Wounds" was mixed by metal legend Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL, CANNIBAL CORPSE, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD) and mastered by Alan Douches (SHADOWS FALL, CONVERGE, MUNICIPAL WASTE).

I'd like to see a black metal band logo that's spelled out in big, fat block letters like the classic designs used by Iron Maiden, Overkill, and many others.

The scripty, hard-to-read shit has been done to death. And while this particular logo looks more like a bad graphic designer's attempt to replicate the Opeth logo script, it still sucks.

actually i don't think that really even looks like the stereotypical black metal logo. pretty easy to read.
