MASTODON Schedules Meet-And-Greet At NEW YORK COMIC CON - Feb. 5, 2009
Atlanta-based hard rock behemoths MASTODON will take part in a meet-and-greet at the New York Comic Con on Friday, February 6 at 1:00 p.m. They will be at the Namco/Bandai kiosk for the debut of the new Splatterhouse game.

New York Comic Con is the East Coast's biggest and most exciting popular culture convention. The event's show floor plays host to the latest and greatest in comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies, and television.

New York Comic Con is the second largest pop culture convention in America and the only one that takes place in the comic book, publishing, media, and licensing capital of the world — Gotham City.

Location:

Jacob Javits Convention Center
655 W 34th St
New York, NY 10001

A new MASTODON song, "Divinations", from the band's highly anticipated, long-awaited new studio album, "Crack The Skye", is available for streaming at the group's MySpace page.

John Doran of The Quietus has posted a track-by-track review of "Crack The Skye". Read it at this location.

Patrizia Mazzuoccolo of the "Tinitus" radio show, which airs every Wednesday on Norway's NRK P3, spoke to MASTODON drummer Brann Dailor in late November prior the band's concert in Oslo as part of the "Unholy Alliance: Chapter III" tour with SLAYER, TRIVIUM and AMON AMARTH.

Exclusive excerpts from the interview were originally aired on the November 26, 2008 edition of "Tinitus". The show is now available on podcast at this location.

"Crack the Skye" was recorded at Southern Tracks Studios in Atlanta and was produced and mixed by Brendan O'Brien, who has previously worked with VELVET REVOLVER, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, PEARL JAM, AC/DC and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, among others.

Maybe I just don't get it, but I could never really get into Mastodon. It seems like they put these little jazzy parts into their songs to make them more complex or something, and it ends up killing the momentum. I have nothing against them, though. The new song is okay.

I'm a really big comics dude and I've been to this convention once, a couple years ago.

Can't go this year because I have to work. I'd love to get them to sign my vinyl copies of their albums, and get Neal Adams to sign that Groundhogs cover he did...

Bummer...
