SEVENDUST's CLINT LOWERY Says DARK NEW DAY's Future 'Doesn't Look Good' - Feb. 7, 2009
SEVENDUST guitarist Clint Lowery issued the following update on DARK NEW DAY — the band he formed (and subsequently left) with his brother Corey Lowery (bass; ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO), Brett Hestla (vocals, guitar; ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT), Will Hunt (drums; EVANESCENCE, ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) and Troy McLawhorn (guitar; EVANESCENCE, ex-DOUBLE DRIVE):

"As most of you know, everyone's busy in their other projects and bands. I'm not even positive on what all the guys are doing at this point besides my brother Corey and Troy. But it does bug me that there hasn't been a official statement given to you who still support this band. I put in a lot of work for this band and think that the few people still waiting for a new album should be given an update of some kind.

"From what I gather, there's not gonna be an official release for the [second] full-length that DARK NEW DAY recorded over a year ago. There was talk about all these different release options from Will that never happened, obviously, so for that I will apologize on his behalf. I don't want the people that have supported this band to be led on to think something's gonna happen, or [that the album will] get released when I know that it isn't. Everyone has moved on to other things. I can't say if that album will or will not be available. I'm back with SEVENDUST and I also do an acoustic side project but will still find out if there's any chance of at least making that last DARK NEW DAY record available on iTunes.

"I'm sorry that you all have been in this limbo state when it comes to DARK NEW DAY. I know I haven't really cleared up anything as far as DARK NEW DAY's future. From where I'm sitting, it doesn't look good.

"I will still check from time to time with Corey on releasing the last full record we recorded. It should be heard at least.

"To those who have been supportive, I thank you and truly appreciate you and I'm sorry you've been kept in the dark so long."

DARK NEW DAY released its debut album, "Twelve Year Silence", in June of 2005. The disc featured the single "Brother".

that's a shame. of all the neo-grunge bands, these guys were actually quite decent.

Nickelback rake in the millions while DND fades into obscurity. I will never understand the total idiocy of most rock fans.

Releasing the album has nothing to do with the guys in the band at this point. They've stated repeatedly that they want the music out there. They even have a few of the songs on their myspace. The record label (Warner Bros) has control over it.

Record label owns it? Then leak it to the internet...The same shit went down with Daughters Of Mara. They recorded an album for Virgin Records, and after a bunch of bullshit and fucking with the band, they wouldn't release it. The band finally released it on their own, digitally through their myspace page...Fuck the record labels. Any good souls who want to "donate" to the band can do so via paypal or something...a simple solution!

Stereomud was a bland generic band with a stupid name. Just like Dark New Day. There is no reason for both of these bands to come back. They'll fail again.

Dark New Day was nothing more than a feeble Sevendust coverband. A poor effort on Clint's part at a cash grab... But during these time who can blame him... IMO Sevendust put out better music when Mayo joined the band. Can't wait to see 7Dust with BLS at the Webster. This show will be amazing.
