STEVEN ADLER: AXL ROSE Is 'A Wonderful, Loving Guy'

Original GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler was recently interviewed on "The Woody Show" on San Francisco, California's KITS Live 105. Watch the six-minute chat below. According to TMZ.com, Adler was in court on Friday (February 6) where the judge ordered Adler to check himself into Cri-Help treatment center in North Hollywood, California first thing today (Monday, February 9). Adler was arrested last month for failing to complete court-ordered community service by the judge's deadline in connection with a July 2008 DUI bust. ADLER'S APPETITE, the band led by Steven Adler, is scheduled to embark on a full U.S. tour first time ever this winter/spring. The group will perform the iconic GN'R album "Appetite For Destruction" in its entirety along with other classics and some surprises. ADLER'S APPETITE's current lineup is rounded out by singer Sheldon Tarsha, Alex Grossi ( HOOKERS 'N' BLOW, ex- QUIET RIOT) on guitar, Michael Thomas ( FASTER PUSSYCAT) on guitar, and Chip Z'nuff ( ENUFF Z'NUFF) on bass. Adler is featured in "Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House", an eight-episode, one hour series that premiered on January 15 on VH1. The other members of GUNS N' ROSES band threw Adler out in 1989, saying his drug use was harming his performance. In 1993, the band agreed to pay him $2.3 million to settle Adler's lawsuit claiming a 1990 agreement by which he gave up his interest in the band was read to him and signed without his attorney present.

Because he is the only one of the original five that stayed to true to the original vision of GNR. He aint out rock climbing or doing political commentary. He is actually still the dude that was sold to us back in the late 80s. He is exactly what you would think he would be 20 years later. He stayed true to the sex, drugs, and rock and roll mentality for better or for worse. He lives Appetite for Destruction to this day. He is therefore the real deal. Everybody else in that band grew up...maybe even sold out the values (or lack thereof) that made them huge in the first place. Gotta give him credit for that. Him and Keef should go on a nice long binge somewhere sunny and show us all what rock and roll is really about...hard to have the agression when the dark-side is an ancient regretted memory. Rock on Steven!

Adler is delusional if he thinks he'd be asked to drum for G'n'R on the REMOTE, REMOTE POSSIBILITY that they actually reform.
The guy's a drug-addled mess and had a massive stroke as a result that's turned him into a physical wreck. No way in hell he'd survive a world tour.
Matt Sorum will be on the drums if it ever happens. It won't, but if it did...

i wish steve all the luck in getting better.
that being said, the only reason the guy has "stayed true to the original vision of gnr" is because it's all he's got. having a "sex, drugs, and rock and roll mentality for better or for worse" is what's kept him from growing up or selling out, like the others did, as you put it, . the guy, unfortunately, isn't "staying true", he's clinging on to all he has, which is his past glorys.

Who wants to take bets on when they'll find Adler dead with a needle in his arm like Layne Staley? I'll set the over/under date for June 1.
In all seriousness, somebody needs to take his ass out to some farm say, along the Montana - North Dakota border, and just leave him there for about 5 years with an armed guard who'll shoot him if he leaves the property. Maybe that's why he's sucking up to Axl - he needs financing for the project.....

I'm just saying that he is what was marketed to the public 20 years ago. Not endorsing it...or bashing it for that matter. Just saying that he is the epitome of what GNR is/was. When they came out I imagined them dead at 30...or like this. All you ever hear in response to any "news" about Adler is about how pathetic he is or how sad his situation is. Just pointing out that he--his "predicament"--makes total sense. He is the only one who still represents what GNR represents.

I agree as far as skilled musicians are concerned but skilled musicians do not always make good albums and sometimes (and I know this kills a lot of guys on this site) really crappy musicians make the best Rock & Roll albums! I'm all for both skilled musicians and self taught alcohols like Slash. Sometimes It's all about attitude and feel and not how many notes you cram into a solo.
And T-Boner. It has occurred to me that you may have fallen off the rock and roll "Night train" after that other thread where I pissed off some people by suggesting that Appetite For Destruction was the only great G&R album. It's ok with me dude. I'm over it. I still feel the same way but don't deny yourself the awesomeness of AFD on my account. I'm jobbing you off course and it's all fun but more power to you if you really feel that way. Your boy is Axl so that's your call not mine. lol

He's got a lot of heart.
He's been in trouble with substances since he was a child, which is the hardes type of addiction to get over.
He was "crushed" by the band (probably just Axl), when let go (Little did the rest of them know they were next).
In the interview he empathizes with Axl's troubled past and wishes him no harm. That's called class.
A reunion would have to include him. Slash wouldn't have it any other way. He is still a great drummer.
Those who kick him when he's down are a sad bunch.

great guy and all but damn the reason no one wants you around is you got a very bad habit that you have no control over it. He sits there says shit like..................Slash never asked me to play drums in Snakepit.......Axl never asked me to do anything.....Duff left me out also.........then they start VR and I'm not a part of that either. WHY OH WHY NO BODY CARES ABOUT ME. As mean as that is they guy needs to realize he is the fucking problem not everyone else. Sure they had there issues too. But they got clean or at least got there issues very much under control.
Guy seems nice but I just know the day is coming when I log onto the internet the lead story will be Steven Adler found dead.

Slash DOES NOT have this dudes back. He went along with his first firing...and hasnt invited him to play in any project since. He has washed his hands of him cuz he wasnt able to kick drugs like he did. I love the story of how they kicked Adler out too: He was deathly ill from a medication he was given to kick the shit...like an opiate blocker...they wouldnt postpone the sessions cuz they didnt wanna "waste the money"...so dude tries and pulls it together and do the session...he is puking and shitting...sure you shouldnt be in that situation in the first place but we are talking about guns and fucking roses here...izzy had not to earlier taken a piss in the aisle of a plane...although they went on to make some great music after his departure (and I include Chi-Dem in that) they were no longer GNR...Sorum had nothing to do with that original image...those five unique personalities coming together to make a sum greater than its parts...like kicking out a Beatle or Peter Criss...anyway...Slash aint got this dudes back...he wouldnt even do Stevens little club reunion a little while back...at least Duff and Izzy got on stage with him to give him a thrill...The only way Slash would let it happen is if Axl told him to do it :)
